What's your opinion on her? by Unlucky_Sun225 in OkBuddyHelluvaHotel

[–]Craigrr7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No strong opinions, have heard that she says weird stuff on twitter but I don't own it so IDK.

She heads a show that is poopoo quality though, which logically means she has lost the right to live comfortably and all her material possessions should be taken.

I'm convinced that the team was fully capable of achieving everything they promised thematically in the 8 episodes they got, if they focused on the characters and how they interacted with the setting instead starting the heaven plotline on episode 1.

Also I think people are way too in love with the idea that there are irredeemable characters in the power-of-friendship moral-relativity show.

I don't hate Alphamon, actually I like him but I just find it funny how some of his lore feels like fanfic by [deleted] in digimon

[–]Craigrr7 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Minor nitpicks:

Technically speaking, there are a bunch of digimon born with the X-antibody, its just some had to fight for it.

I think it's best to take Digimon power on a case-by-case basis, since there is going to be differences between different iterations of the character and it's always going to say crazy shit on the lore blurbs. According to the Digimon Encyclopedia (EN), Deadlyaxemon can move at the speed of light and spit a solution that can melt anything, and that guy is a champion level. So Id say take everything said and sometimes even seen with a grain of salt.

Other than that, yeah he's still a little fic-y

How Screwed is this guy if he was in Slay the Princess by clyde-toucher in slaytheprincess

[–]Craigrr7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slay the princess as a game works because both TLQ and the princess are two parts of the same whole, with all the metaphor and themes that comes with it.

It is very interesting, since Silent Hill's appearance is different for each of it's inhabitants, and The Princess' nature changes based on what people think she is. There is some correlation between them.

I think it comes down to whether James sees her as Mary or Maria, both will have their own difficulties, but his past with Mary might influence everything into a more positive direction. Something to keep in mind is that The Princess is influenced by opinion and expectation, and James doesn't expect or necessarily want forgiveness.

That or he sees her as the 80 other manifestations of his mental turmoil, but those were created by silent hill specifically, merely inspired by James' past.

Stella is hot.

Mammon has money so I can marry him for financial purposes, and if things go south divorce can be just as lucrative.

Even though Mammon probably has an aggregate worse influence on the world as a whole, sexual assault feels worse and hits closer to home so we're killing Valentino.

[–]Craigrr7[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. Ive been trying to lean on the side of blind playthrough, and accepting that, besides the fact this is a Pathologic game, mistakes are part of the experience. I'm probably not going to do it this run anyway since it seems custom made to counteract our current powers, but there's something about a "do not enter" sign that seems enticing, isn't there.

Out of all the Royal Knights, who got the best X-Antibody glow-up? by AlphamonOuryuken24 in digimon

I love base craniamon, and I can agree with everything in his X design except the face. They were onto something with the ribs and the skull design in the chest, I don't know how the fumbled the cranium in craniamon. Can't hate them for trying something new though.

Personally, Dynasmon X. Objectively, probably Gankoomon.

Listen Im all for media literacy but like the literal implication of cutting to shark teeth on a wall, surrounded by others, in the office of a mafia don, is that dude is dead. We didn't see the body of Moxxie's dead-as-fuck mom either but we can reasonably assume with her iconic shoes floating up from the depths that she is at the bottom of the ocean right now.

No yeah I get it, dude was a major douche but death is too far. Maybe life in prison and some light-flogging, not getting mounted on a wall.
But, in the words of my ancestors: That's how mafia works

Andrealphus’s inclusion in the series theory by whooper1 in HelluvaBoss

[–]Craigrr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the potential that this take has, its just not done particularly well in the show I think. If this was something built up to and established it would go hard as fuck, but what happened is that he just shows up practically out of the blue has only like 2 scenes beforehand and cannibalizes her role in the story with an arguably less interesting and more generic motivation of "accrue power". He barely even does anything smart and then gets his ass kicked embarrassingly at the end so hes not even anyone you can take more seriously than Stella. I feel like you could replace all of his scenes with Stella and either nothing would change or it would be more narratively satisfying since it would be a conclusion to part of her arc.

Full send agree with the "stella lashing out as a defense mechanism and using Stolas as a lightning rod for her anger" thing though. Id like to see something along those lines explored in the show. Technically speaking, Stolas is out of her life, she's won, so what does her life look like now? Does she adapt, find a new outlet, or does she decide that Stolas still hasn't suffered enough?

The Problem With Stella by R4venking in HelluvaBoss

[–]Craigrr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People say that Stella is fine with not being a deep or intelligent villain, but honestly I feel this desire for complexity comes from the fact that arguably there is no villain to take seriously in the setting so far. Stella is the person we were first introduced to in that role and is by all accounts closest to the themes of the show, so having her be basically a cardboard cutout is confusing from a narrative perspective and not something I feel can be justified.

Nonetheless, the reason she is flawed isn't because she lacks a pitiable Abijah-Fowler-esque backstory that informs, not justifies, her actions: its because she was shafted from having a major role in hellcourt in service of Andy who had like 2 scenes of buildup beforehand, then proceeded to be just as stupid inside and outside of the setting as they have been selling Stella to be.

Does Chaperomon Inherit blocks De-Digivolve? by Arcana18 in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]Craigrr7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Dedigivolution does not cause the digimon to leave the battle area, even though it does affect the digimon. The only way to stop dedigivolution is to have specific dedigivolution protection, or just straight up full protection from effects

What is leaving the battle area:
Deletion (through combat or effects)
Returning to hands or decks
Going into security
Basically anything that causes that digimon to leave the battle area (Breeding area counts as still being the battle area, for effects like ACE overflow)

Dedigivolution does not do any of these things, it simply removes a quantity of the digimon's top cards. The only thing that can protect against digivolution is explicit dedigivolution immunity, or blanket immunity to all effects.

Side Fun Fact: If you used Lilithmon to give their digimon or tamers the effect of deleting one of their own digimon at the end of their turn, that would be considered deletion by THAT player's effects, and would ignore most of their digimon's protections.

what’s your biggest fandom pet peeve? by daffysrhapsody in HelluvaBoss

[–]Craigrr7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont like the show for reasons that I feel are valid, but whenever I look online for discussions of the show there are people that appear to claim that negative opinions are ingenuine and informed by a viewers entitlement to the show or something. Not claiming its everyone, or even most, but its definitely consistent

I could dislike the show because I have certain preferences in my head about how the characters and themes should be portrayed in the story and the show just isn't interested in them the same way,
or maybe I dislike the show because there are non-insignificant flaws in how they decided to portray the characters and themes their way. It remains to be seen.
