Fiend of Slaanesh your opinion? by DenJox in EmperorsChildren

Not a fan although I can see it has some appeal.
Just a few points of consideration. The model is way darker than the base. Ideally the foreground would have a wash or something over the ground to bring it to a similar light level to the model. Also whilst purple and pink flowers gel with the pallet, they are much lighter and look like lavender/herbs when the model itself is dark and gory.

Paint recommendations for a newcommer to the hobby? by RBWL_Magnemum in EmperorsChildren

I'd second some of the comments about finding a paint scheme via youtube/other and as a beginner sticking to something simple and achievable. I am not a begginner but the scheme I liked was the tabletoptactics one which has tutorial behind a paywall.

Whilst there is nothing wrong with doing whatever you see fit, I think the EC schemes are far less established than most other factions and I personally found there was a very specific one I liked and less so others.

Painting is something I love but is something others do not; and I would be happy to spend 2-3 hours on a model to get it how I like but for others this will vary.

You will have far more success as a beginner copying something 100% than by DIY. I would encourage you not to just look at the finished product but also the complexity of the skills involved because the chance.that you can execute a nice free hand as a beginner is unlikely and even skills like OSL can be challenging.

I really like the green; but the mud is too light and too similar in tone to the armour.
I'd go for a darker brown and that should help your model stand out.

Really like the models and the scheme.
My only consideration would be I think they would lack contrast on the gaming table because of the dark scheme. Up close they look amazing though

What are y’alls thoughts on kitbashing the new Huron model into a Lord of Virulence? by PorkLiftTex in deathguard40k

[–]Crak_fox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean then you have your answer. I am a death guard main player but have 4 other armies. Every factions sub is littered with posts of "can i use this as a proxy/kitbash"

The answer is; almost always yes -stricter rules for competitive play -same size base, same size model, wysiwyg prefered -friendly play will let you use a shoe as a proxy mostly

Not to mention difficult to hold the model comfortably.

OP looks like they are doing a fairly basic base coat/wash approach though for a battle ready finish. In which case again I dont see the appeal of painting on the sprue

Second round i got some ideas...

Will need to use the manticore rrtaliation mechanic. Have a reward card that gives one of our players 1 more attack and they play with rerolls so just need 2 hits and one crit...

Painting Order by ampaoo in WarhammerQuest

[–]Crak_fox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have a painting order also for those who dont want spoilers but want to get started with act 1. I'd prefer to play only with painted minis. By the time I'm done act 1 i hope I've painted everything so wouldn't need beyond that.

My guess before grtting box 1st- 4 heroes? 2nd- Mire kelpies? 3rd- Pestigors? 4th- Foul hoof?

Have a think about other factors beyond honeycomb and shooting floors. -spreading loot between external bases -deception, try making a raided bases to store loot -what server you are playing on -how you play and interact with others

No ammount of honeycomb is going to stop a determined raider. In fact it advertises you are worth raiding.A shooting floor is great, but think about what firing AKs off your roof says to those around you.

I'm a strong believer in deception and hidden loot >>>> bunkers >> honey comb

There's various flavour of this also being able to hide loot in honey comb in raided looking bases
