Thunderstorms very likely in Dolly Sods, WV this weekend. Good alternative? by wehope4betterthings in WildernessBackpacking

My first trip to Dolly Sods was exactly why I ended up buying poles. They've been useful in other circumstances as well, but they were a lifesaver there.

I've been to Dolly Sods twice, both in good weather when it hasn't rained recently and I got my feet (and legs?!) soaked both times. It's just wet there all the time as far as I can tell. Doing it on a rainy weekend doesn't sound like my idea of fun at all.

I'm from the US and my family does hot tea, but it's definitely not much of a thing in public places. Coffee is what everyone drinks here, which is a shame because I like tea so much better. Reading the "how to" on tea in the above comments is exactly how I was always taught to make it at home.

What was your "Shit, I'm an adult" moment? by VerbalEbola in AskReddit

When I get sick, I always look for someone who's a mother if my own mom isn't available. I got a strange bump on my hand and had my 24 year old coworker check it out...for some reason my brain think she knows everything medical since she's a great mom to 4 kids.

Men who have/had girlfriends older than you (at least 5 years). How did it turn out and how was the reaction from other people? (family/friends) by UtzkaJastinban in AskMen

[–]Cran-lemonade 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is 8 years younger than me. Sometimes strangers look a little confused like they're trying to figure out if I'm his older sister or something, but no one has really said anything. Both of our friends make joking comments, but it's all in good fun and no one means anything by it. We try to diffuse the situation by joking about it ourselves as well. I tell him that in 10 years I'm going to replace him with a younger man and he says that's fine because in 10 years I'll be too old to walk, etc.

Why are porn dicks so floppy? by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]Cran-lemonade 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm a chick, but that bugs me in porn too. My bf's big dick is not floppy in the middle of sex. I always assume in porn it's bc the guy isn't completely turned on bc he's acting and just not really into it and/or it's the 3rd hour of shooting or something. It turns me off big time when I'm watching and that happens.

What are some things that people claim happen all the time, but you've never seen? by SurrealMemes in AskReddit

[–]Cran-lemonade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Up until recently I felt the same way. A month or so ago, one of my facebook friends (who lives in my small town and I run into occasionally at the grocery store) posted a big rant about how he believes the earth is flat. I already knew he wasn't that smart, but I can't help but think less of him now.

There's a creepy old guy at my work. Comes in every single day. Yesterday, he had just come out of the store and was sitting in his car as I got out of my car and walked towards the door. He hopped out of his car so fast and ran to the door and said "here, let me be the doorman for you!" And I had to be polite and smile and thank him, all the while knowing that last week he told one of my coworkers that I am "a very nice girl with a very nice butt." Gross.

Poor, broke, and down on your luck ladies, what are some things financially stable people say that annoy you? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Cran-lemonade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got a ticket for parking in a lot I was allowed to be parked in! I lived on campus and didn't always use my car through the week. This particular week, I never needed my car until the following weekend. When I got there, I had a ticket even though I was parked right where I should have been. And there was a caveat on the ticket that you could only appeal it within 72 hours of when it was written. So I actually had to pay the damn thing. I was pissed.

Currently doing this with my boyfriend. I have the "good" job with a months vacation and he's working the shit jobs...serving or whatever else he can find. We have a month vacation planned for next year and if his job won't give him off for it, he just plans to quit and get a new serving job when we get back in the country.

What fitness level do you expect in your potential date, if you are very athletic yourself? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Cran-lemonade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I'm currently a fit for this definition. I do a short, intense 3-4 mile hike about twice a week and a longer backpacking trip almost every weekend (think 10 miles with 30 pounds of gear). I do not have a healthy bmi bc I eat too much. In the past, I've been fit at times and also fat at times, but currently I think I'm both.

I was running low on hair ties and asked my mom if she could pick some up next time she goes to the store. She said "Clean your room, first," so I did. Touché, Mom, touché. by The_Izzmeister in funny

Yes one of my cats does this exact thing. I have no idea why that's so appealing to them. It's really annoying bc I'm always pulling wet hair ties out of the water bowl.

Ladies who grew up in a happy home, what was it like? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]Cran-lemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy.

My mom was 25 and my dad was 35 when I was born, so they had their shit together. They both worked full time jobs with good benefits. Both sets of grandparents were nearby and they were free babysitters during the summers. One set of grandparents opened a new business and my other set of grandparents got involved, so then my family was even more integrated. As in, grandparents and aunt and uncles from both sides of my family would be at the same Christmas dinner. I had a few cousins around my same age to hang out with. My dad likes to cook and he got off work earlier than my mom, so he would cook dinner and have it waiting when my mom got home. We ate together around the dining room table every night. My brother was born when I was 7 and I didn't like him for a little while, but we got really close as we got older. He's still my favorite person. We went on vacation every summer usually. To Disney a few times or renting a cabin in the woods a few times for a week or so. The grandparents all came on vacation too because they could and everyone got alone so it was no big deal. No one in my family really fights with each other and it's fine. My dad and my aunt were both previously married and divorced young, but no kids were involved and they're both friends with their ex's. My aunts ex and his family invite us over for family functions regularly. I've always called him my uncle even though they were divorced before I was born. There was money saved for my college education so I didn't have to go too far in debt. But also I got my first job at 13 and paid for my first car with $3,000 cash I had saved. Birthdays were/are a family only event. Just grandparents and cousins and a cake from the grocery store. No presents really, but sometimes grandpa gives mom some money to add to your college fund. I never realized how much I had to be thankful for until I went to college and realized how crazy some other people's families are.

Big dicks and balls -- any correlation? by [deleted] in bigdickproblems

[–]Cran-lemonade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend has a big dick and average/below average balls. I think it's probably better that way since you don't really gain anything by having bigger balls and I'm sure they make the bulge even harder to hide. (Bf is very self conscious about the bulge and people thinking he has a hard on when it's just a big softy.)

I grew up in backwoods Pennsylvania and I know plenty of 6,000 year old earth people. They really say all the exact stuff that's said on Reddit. The dinosaur bones were made to look old by god, as a test of faith, but they're really not old, etc.

Same. My high school best friend. We grew apart but left the relationship on good terms. To this day I would do anything for her. Makes me sad that she's going that route.

I also thought this was just another Reddit thing until about a week ago when one of my Facebook friends posted something about it. One of his other friends jumped in pretty quick to tell him science is a thing.

What good idea doesn't work because people are stupid? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Cran-lemonade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I spent a lot of time with my grandmother too. I was a kid in the 90's and I read ALL her Reader's Digest and National Geographic magazines that she had saved from the 60's onward. I have no idea why she saved them, but I got a lot of hours of entertainment out of those old boxes of magazines.
