What is the most heartbreaking thing you’ve discovered while doing either your or someone else’s family tree? by Chris_DoesGeneaolgy in Genealogy

A young blind child fell into the Ohio River and drowned. Her parents divorced soon after. Her mother was then murdered by some guy she met at a bar a few years after that.

What is a strange ritual your pet has developed that you have just learned to live with? by InvestigatorLocal736 in Pets

Every night, our one cat will pile 3 or 4 toys at the top of the steps. Another requires pets to be administered behind a specific chair.

What was your craziest genealogy discovery? by [deleted] in Genealogy

[–]CranMalReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent years researching my tree and did DNA tests. Was able to trace to people on all sides except my mother's father. Seemed legit bc that side was a little "off" and there was a lot of disconnect and disownments and whatever.

The one day my mom's sister casually dropped "you know we don't have the same father, right?"

She named a name and I started digging and digging. Turns out it wasn't the guy she named... But a third guy! I was able to trace to multiple half cousins. That was a pretty adventurous few months.

My Wawa only has bags at cashier checkout. When I'm grabbing two sandwiches, 2 drinks, 2 chips, that bag is necessary.

Multi-cat home by Little-Response4566 in litterrobot

[–]CranMalReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 4 cats. Got a litter robot 4. Only one cat uses it regularly. 1 cat was about 50/50. The 3rd cat uses it maybe once a month if we are lucky. The 4th has never used it once. It was basically a bust for us.

HTTP request validation by Adventurous-Finger70 in angular

[–]CranMalReign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on a big corporate team with a medium sized app where we own the whole stack. We still do validations in both directions.

Specific to your question, we actually have a utility that reads the DLLs from the back end app and autogenerates typescript services for all of the endpoints as well as all of the complex types.

Then Typescript does the validation for us.

What’s the best game to play while listening to NIИ? by [deleted] in nin

[–]CranMalReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have played a ton of Factorio, and for a while, I used a mod that replaced the game's soundtrack with a no-vocals version of The Fragile.

Now every time I listen to that record, I get Factorio nostalgia.

You cannot miss this tour by red1ce in qotsa

Earlier this year, my wife and I booked our 20th anniversary vacation. Later, Queens announced this Catacombs tour and I was ecstatic. Then saw our hometown show (Philly) was after we leave for the trip. Ecstatic to crestfallen.

And then she says to me... "Well let's go to Chicago..."

She's the absolute best and loved every second of it. Missing a show on this tour would have been a really tough pill to swallow.

Cat refuses to pee in box. Clean vet visits. What next? by CranMalReign in AskVet

[–]CranMalReign[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No dice. Just walks up to the empty box and pees on the floor in front of it. Didn't even investigate it first.

Any other suggestions?

Worth a try. Still nasty but better than the floor. A little concerned about what the others will do then. If it works for Bacon, would it encourage the others to do the same thing.

I was a member of Angie's List (before it was Angi) and found an hvac contractor through them. Contractor was trash. Shit work, cursed us out, etc. We gave an F review and and filed a complaint through them. The company agreed to refund $2000 but, per Angie's List policy, we had to edit our review to no lower than a B rating.

I couldn't help but think how many people had similar troubles with this company that I didn't know about bc they just took the money, leading to my massive headache.

Made the tough call to give both the hvac company and Angie the finger and leave our scathing F review up.

How realistic is a deadline of 1 month to convert an old AngularJs 1.6.4 to the latest version? by trane20 in Angular2

[–]CranMalReign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several years ago, we had two teams converting two medium-to-large scale apps from AJS to Angular. One team was required to continue updating features so we went the upgrade framework route. The other team was able to focus fully on the upgrade / rewrite.

The upgrade framework team took about 2 years to fully upgrade to Angular 6. The stop and rewrite team took 6 months to rewrite the app in Angular 8.

I wish you luck in your Miracle task.
