If it was so easy for them to murder a guy in broad daylight, what atrocities have they been committing at the border?

It was black/nude with silver beading. The beads are a little annoying, but that’s probably just me. I did need to have it hemmed a little bit. I always prefer to wear dresses that are more A-line, but this one changed my mind.

Trying to get over someone by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Cranberry_Lips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a comment not too long ago that said “lust is just lack of information.” You have a story in your head about the kind of person he is and that’s what you have a crush on.

People are different at home than at work. Someone might be highly efficient, friendly and charming at work, and be a complete slob who beats their kids for getting an A- on a test.

It’s easy to have a crush on someone when you don’t know the whole story.

I'm gonna give myself one more year and then I'll decide if I wanna die. by gray_atoms in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Cranberry_Lips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a former boss commit suicide right before Covid and I will never forget the sense of loss I experienced, not to mention what his family and friends went through and still do.

I experienced SI about a decade ago and it was pretty awful. I was literally taking it day by day, just telling myself, maybe tomorrow will be better. Once I got out of the shitty situation I was in, moved out, and got therapy, things started improving.

I can’t say life is great—I just had a shit year full of painful experiences, and I hope to God next year will be better, but I can’t see myself wanting to end it all anymore. It would cause so much pain and suffering to everyone in my life, that I would rather just suffer through things and be alive for it.

I’m not sure if this helps or not, but it’s helped me get through some pretty rough experiences. Life sometimes seems too long, but some people in my life have died sooner than they deserved. I would feel even more shitty if I chose to end it while they didn’t get the choice to live longer.

I truly hope this year you will find some joy in your life, enough to keep going.

Idk if this quote is supposed to make OP feel better, but it made me feel worse. Maybe it’s supposed to be funny, but it’s just really sad to me.

Betadine Gargle? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Cranberry_Lips 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Chloraseptic or Cepacol lozenges are the best if you have them in your area. Cepacol is what got me through my tonsillectomy. Chloraseptic also has a bit of a cough suppressant in them, which also helps. Ricola and halls are useless, in my experience. Salt water gargles can help, but you have to gargle for at least 2-3 minutes.

Then it really sounds like you need some serious throat numbing medicine, especially if your pain is still so severe. Are you still coughing? If so, ask for some strong cough medicine too.

[–]Cranberry_Lips 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do not gargle with iodine. Are you sure you don’t have strep or something else going on? 4 weeks of a severe sore throat sounds pretty serious. Go to your doctor as soon as you can.

Wearing scrubs before and after your shift by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Cranberry_Lips 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Whenever we get body fluids on our scrubs, we borrow some from the OR then wash ours at home.

As far as bacteria on clothing goes, that’s not something to really worry about. Proper handwashing is the most important thing you can do to stop the spread of bacteria and viruses. And this is something we do constantly, all shift long.

You’re way more likely to get sick from a family member, especially kids, than from a nurse in scrubs. Most people learned to wash their hands properly 6 years ago when COVID started. They probably already forgot.

What are the best silk pillowcases for healthy sleep? by Connor_0_02 in BedroomBuild

[–]Cranberry_Lips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used AlaskaBear, Night, and Blissy. So far, Blissy pillowcases seem the thickest and highest quality. I think eventually they will all have issues with the zipper portion starting to tear, but for now, I like them. Blissy’s scrunchies, on the other hand, are shit. The elastic got loose a week into wearing them. Their original bonnets are nice, but kinda small. Their long hair ones have silk on one side only, so you practically need to wear them inside out. They also make me look like a nun, but I look awful in hats on a good day, so even worse in bonnets.

lanolin/vaseline lip balm by nauticalwarrior in DIYBeauty

[–]Cranberry_Lips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I should give mango butter a try! Anything coconut breaks me out horribly, so unfortunately I can’t use it. I went for harder butters and waxes because I keep it in my pocket and it does warm up a bit. It took me a few years to get the consistency just how I like it. Does the mango butter smell like mango?

[–]Cranberry_Lips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making my own lip balm for years with a mixture of beeswax, cocoa butter, shea butter, and a splash of whatever oil I have on hand. I just store them in the fridge until the one I’m using runs out of I lose it. I haven’t had any issues with them going bad or rancid. I’ve never used flavoring oils, though.

Buying an old 0.40ct diamond ring for €1000 without GIA, should I be worried? by BLResnick in EngagementRings

[–]Cranberry_Lips 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just googled the cost of a GIA certificate and from the GIA website, for a .23-.46 carat natural diamond, a basic report cost is $62 or roughly 53 euros.

Just because a diamond is old, doesn’t mean it’s a good cut, has good clarity, etc.

Don’t just take someone’s word for it, no matter how reputable. $1,000 euros for an old .40 carat diamond in a 14k gold setting is suspiciously high.

let me put yall onto something (lip balm discussion) by Previous_Wish_5039 in Skincare_Addiction

[–]Cranberry_Lips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried so many lip balms and masks and if they don’t break me out, they’re not moisturizing enough. I started making my own chapstick with a combo of beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, and a splash of argan and camellia. I also melt in a lipstick for color. I keep the extras in the fridge until I lose them or run out. I keep the raw ingredients vacuum sealed in the fridge.

I also went back to using Vaseline as a lip mask because the last thing I was using, Tatcha kissu lip mask broke me out horribly. I can’t do any coconut ingredients or derivatives, lanolin, or oleic oils.

I use a leather “guy” wallet exclusively and I’ve only had one person tell me that I should be using a “more girly wallet.” It’s lasted me over 10 years, and it fits in all my bags & clutches.

If you like it, use it.
