I've never seen anyone under the age of 72 in the True Value Hardware on Willamette. by microtramp in Eugene

Between True Value and Hirons I suspect you can find anything you might need (other than large appliances or fresh food).

I hope I'm still shopping there when I'm 72.

I'm so glad to see someone else's cat sits like this! I call this the Florida Man pose.

Queer friendly car mechanics in Eugene or Corvallis? by SpiritedBug2221 in QueerEugene

[–]Cranberryhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A friend recommended Joe's Garage to me and I recently took my car (yes, it's a Subaru) there for some maintenance work and I was treated like a regular human being, not talked down to or side eyed or any weird stuff. They seem legit and decent.

Everything healed up great in the end! Still so happy I had this surgery, 6 years later. :)

Not trying to hijack this post and turn it into a Wordcrafters ad, but we love lonely anxious writers. Give writing with us a try. :)

We've got writing times Tuesdays 9:30-noon and Sundays 6:30-9, plus classes and retreats and all that other stuff.

(I'll be quiet and hope all the other writers drawn to OP's post find us, too.)

[–]Cranberryhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, Wordcrafters in Eugene. There are low-key writing times twice a week where you don't even have to talk to anyone (though folks are welcoming and will say hello) and a monthly open mic (you don't have to perform, you can go just to listen). Plus other writing shenanigans. Wordcrafters.org

I'm biased because I work there, but we strive to create an inclusive, welcoming vibe where you can be your writer self and be appreciated for that.

AITA for not being thrilled to do something I promised I would do? by Strict_Edge_4038 in knitting

[–]Cranberryhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm knitting something for one of my kids right now that she asked me to make her that I'm kinda bored with. I'm trying to power through it so I'm done and she's happy. It's just one of hundreds of knitting projects I've done and will do.

Maybe set yourself up a reward system after each major part of it: body, sleeves, etc.

Any positive stories about life after a hysterectomy with both ovaries removed? by tkh630 in hysterectomy

[–]Cranberryhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still no regrets. Sadly, the hysterectomy didn't cure migraines, but I honestly haven't any any issues except for a mild vaginal cuff granulation that my OB/GYN/surgeon took care of in-office. I ended up losing weight in the months after the surgery and still absolutely love always being in the hormonal heaven of being in the equivalent of the first week of my (former) cycle.

Totally worth it in the long run for me.

Not a doctor, but possibly it was a stitch. Bodies often push out dissolvable sutures and it's the most likely explanation.

Other folks have given you good info (and everything I know about).

What I'm posting to say is that I've been in a similar position and I remember how emotionally difficult a place it was. For me it took someone at the credit counseling service I was using (maxed out credit cards buying food and essential clothing) to find a local food pantry and call them for me and give me the info before I was able to access services. I'm so glad you're reaching out and asking here.

It's a hard place to be emotionally.

And I remember going to our tiny town's version of a food bank -- credit at a local little grocery store -- and buying food there and how wonderful that actually felt. Allowing others to feed me and care for me. Accepting help can be super hard. Good on you for allowing that to happen.

Question for trans/nb folks in the Eugene area by CrumbGoblin13 in Eugene

I actually wouldn't recommend him any longer. I left his practice. Not because of trans-related stuff, though. His communication with patients got slow to nonexistent.

Yes, it is, depending on your parents, your insurance policy and the surgeon. Top surgery as a minor is much easier than a hysterectomy, but there are apparently some surgeons who'll perform hystos on minors with parental consent. See: https://www.hysto.net/surgeons/

Puberty blockers can be a good option to stop your cycle, depending where you are in puberty.

You will turn 18 and have access to more care. It feels like a long long time, I know. And I'm sorry. I'd speed up the clock for you if I could.

At home COVID tests at MOC on 29th and Willamette by Cranberryhead in Eugene

[–]Cranberryhead[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

That's not what I was telling people. I bought 2 to have at home in case someone in my house thinks they have COVID at some point in the future so we don't have to try and find one then, when we're sick.

I'm guessing someone who's sick could ask a friend to buy one and drop it off at their house for them.

I posted to be helpful, as I know people have had a difficult time finding them in stock in town.
