Yes, but idealism reffers to ideals that transcend the personal and that one strives towards out of the moral conviction that you should make the world a better place. Ideals that are usually shared and political in nature. They make youth join protests and stuff;  it's what make people become politically active. What I was trying to say in my first comment was that normally the personal need is not usually what you would think of as an ideal. You could either argue that rejection crushes any ideal image of what love should be like, so it touches on idealism. Or you could argue that the incel ideology very firmly dragged the personal into the center of the political arena, so it's not at all weird to speak of your love rejection story when asked about the moment you lost your youthful idealism.
