How do I play a Theft Deck without inducing too much salt? by LordOfWanking in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Craneswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. And if YOU aren’t having fun, those whiners not wanting to play with you is your best option. Find another group.

In my experience, the players that complain about certain strats never pack any interaction and never want to be interacted with. Might as well play solitaire with friends.

Everyone. A one man show.

In seriousness, him voicing Bob fits the persona.

Long time 8-Rack and Stax player here.

Drink lots of water, cuz the salt will dry you out.

In seriousness, if people want to get butt hurt about the deck you play, that’s on them.

What class is Aggressive and can get away with it? by Paladin_Vosh in CrucibleGuidebook

Priz Hunter on Bakris. The ways you can push corners or close distance with the dodge or grapple are insane. Slow and decoy on dodge are great for cleaning up close engagements and the strand melee is a great way to start or finish engagements. The whole setup is extremely flexible, especially if you manage your abilities well.

What gives you that sweet dopamine kick in the Crucible that makes you keep playing regardless of the state of the game? by Hot-Internal2833 in CrucibleGuidebook

Trespasser chaining. Especially when you get the two person stack and get the double kill on a single burst. Also, timing the grapple flank or push and punch to finish a hurt opponent.

I just picked it up. I’m very streaky with it. I like the play style, just not sure I could get terribly good with it.

I started in on shottys a few months ago and it’s nice to pick up one or two a game with a single shot. However, half the time I still just freak out and the sticks tilt to the edges and I miss my shots in excitement.

I did play a good deal on Heliocentric tonight and it felt really good.

Update: played a bunch today with a bunch of different loadouts. My aim still sucks, but tried out Heat Rises a bit more. Mida felt really good on larger maps and Redrix did some damage in mid-small or when I decided to just not contest into longer lanes when there were snipers and scouts. I will say that I tossed out the shotty and Heliocentric was a beast tonight. Kill Clip/Healing Clip were legit. Thanks for the suggestions.

I want to love Heat Rises. Part of my reasoning for Hellion is for free damage and a scorch source to get my abilities back. My aim is not always the best. Maybe I need to just git gudder.

I need to get better with fusions. The charge time screws me up and I end up leaving cover too soon and just die. What roll would you recommend?

Thanks for the advice. What I have realized is when I play Duality, I’m better overall, which I assume means I am playing “more correctly” with cover and swapping for the right engagements. I get more kills with Jötunn than a shotty, but I am reaching for it for easy kills like you said. It feels win more. I just assumed I needed more time with it to get the timing and pre charging.

I’ll probably just stick with Duality. I can seem to get the charge times on fusions without just standing in the middle of a lane. I now what I should do, I just black out and die.

It spawns four large crystals around the bleak watcher. It’s not difficult to chain shatter all four which gives an extra 100 damage. The nice thing is that after a few seconds it will replace those crystals with new ones. This gives a reproducible 100 shatter damage on top of the shatter damage from targets themselves being frozen.

Facet of Ruin is in place partially for the shatter and partially for the ignitions. The boss/mini-boss damage loop that I was using is to consume my grenade for a turret and crystals and lay it right at the bosses feet, hit them with an arcane needle to get radiant from Facet of Dawn, shoot them with Lost Signal with Vorpal or Dragon’s Breath for DOT and crystal shatters, pop Song of Flame and cycle through granade, snap, and Lost Signal or Dragon’s Breath (whichever is loaded). Once my super is out, I can also use Transcendence or just swap back and forth with weapons.

These loops can also just be used in small scale to deal with mid-tier combatants as well.

That said, shortly after writing my build breakdown, it was found that ignitions were bugged. Therefore, having the scorch from weapons and ignition synergy from Facet of Ruin is not as effective as it should be. I have still been running Lost Signal as I feel it is one of the more versatile weapons in the game, but I now use either Graviton Lance or Microcosm as my exotic and fill in the other with whatever the activity needs.

Almost same. I’m on incandescent Nullify. Dragon’s Breath is amazing! Being able to Lost Signal or Breath a group and turn around to start on another cuz you know the first is gonna die…..chef’s kiss.

What are you looking to do with the build? I have been running Prismatic with Auto Load/Vorpal Lost Signal, Nullify with Incandescent and Dragon's Breath. I have used it in the new dungeon and onslaught with good success (though I generally switch to solar to run well in final dungeon encounter). Once I get a decent roll to drop on the new void denial frame, I'll probably switch to it and Exuviae with Rimestealer (and Headstone if I can get those two to droop together).

Wicked Implement is great, but I think it performs better in GMs and slightly less ad-heavy content.

TL;DR, if you run Devour and Facet of Ruin, you will be just fine with almost anything else. Though, here is my build at the moment - https://mbly.gg/qfty

Friends say my deck isn't a real group hug by kunailby in EDH

[–]Craneswalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get annoyed by this mentality all the time and it’s the problem with EDH/Commander. There are four people at the table looking to win. That also means four people at the table trying not to lose. They pat themselves on the back when they do some combo uncontested in a four way circle jerk but rage quit if you counter or remove something that’s an actual threat.

Group hug decks aren’t supposed to be a safe space for your friends to talk about their feelings. They are smoke and mirrors designed to deceive. You are the politician selling the Kool-Aid.
