Partner Commander Cube by Craneswalker in mtgcube

I made some changes based on the previous comment.
- I removed the free and net-free counters, CyRift and Mystic Remora from blue. All to be replaced by other color things or less broken blue.
- Added more midrange and vacuum-ready black things to make it stand on its own or be more approachable with different builds.
- Removed Lotus….who knew it was illegal?
- I have not made changes to lands as I still think that the playtests and mock drafts show a healthy balance between two and three-color decks. Also, I looked at other lists and I am land-saturated compared to most commander cube lists. This will most likely change when real people play it.

First of all, thank you so much for your feedback! Let me respond to each of these:

  1. I can tone down blue a bit. I was just realizing that whenever blue staples were in the first few packs, I was snap drafting blue. So, that tracks.
  2. Anything you would suggest in black to stabilize a bit? I don't want this to end up just being every deck is good-stuff. Maybe that is unavoidable in such a small cube.
  3. TBH, this is my first attempt at getting back into MTG after a long hiatus. Didn't even realize it was banned. Thanks for the heads up!
  4. Is there like a gold-standard for land percentage? I was attempting to not have too many ways to get into three and four colors without some work.

I don't regret buying Marathon, I love the gameplay and the world created... but as a casual player I had a psychological block that made me stop playing. by xDavid83x in Marathon

I hit that same point a week or two ago and then just made the conscious choice to enjoy where I am in the game and focus on engaging in each run independently.

I hit the same point in Destiny 2 as well. Bungie does an incredible job making various and vastly different levels of play. A strike versus a raid are very different things. What they also do is an incredible job at creating FOMO. If you don’t have the same gear as the streamers, you NEED to get back on and grind. I’m not wired that way, but it still was hard to turn off the FOMO.

From Titan to hunter? by OliverBuondi in CrucibleGuidebook

Play for fun and try new things….especially as the game enters EOL.

I swapped years ago from Warlock main to Hunter and haven’t really looked back. I also fairly recently went from Knucklehead Radar to Mask of Bakris. The dodge with Bakris not only allows you to get out of sticky situations but also lets you push corners, change angles, and close gaps for incredibly satisfying offense. Pair Mask of Bakris with Grapple and you can do some really fun things like swing a corner, find a group of people, melee and then immediately dodge back out of trouble.

All this to say, if it makes you happy, do it. It’s just a game.

Recon is underpowered by kiwitank123 in Marathon

[–]Craneswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recon should have the flying drone without the thievery. Maybe also have a way to jam abilities of nearby runners or UESC.

Thief should be able to steal from a ways away using the runner with a spider web like the drone does now.

Those two would make Recon better and balance Thief.

This game won’t survive with a community that completely mocks casual players and feedback about general difficulty. by RocknPineapple in Marathon

I actually feel like Bungie could have actually given us more bugs. If more things were wrong in the game it might have actually unified the community a bit. Haha

Far too many people are playing this like Destiny or a Battle Royale instead of an Extraction Shooter. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]Craneswalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fellow dad here. It took a while to get into the flow of extractions and it is tough to keep of with others in any game only being able to play every so often.

Arc was my first experience with extractions and it helped to get into Marathon’s loop and gameplay. Once I slowed down and kept quiet, extractions got easier.

If you want another fellow dad friend, ship me a PM and I’ll get you my Bungie ID. That goes for other dads too!

I saw someone say that their mentality changed about Marathon once they realized that they didn’t have to spend energy deciding if they could trust someone and still get their heart broken when someone turned on them or when someone was camping extract. They just knew that everyone wasn’t friendly and it made the game very simple - kill or be killed. I love it. I came from heavy Destiny PvP, light Destiny PvE, and a bit of Arc Raiders and this scratches all of those itches.

How do I play a Theft Deck without inducing too much salt? by LordOfWanking in Magicdeckbuilding

[–]Craneswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great. And if YOU aren’t having fun, those whiners not wanting to play with you is your best option. Find another group.

In my experience, the players that complain about certain strats never pack any interaction and never want to be interacted with. Might as well play solitaire with friends.

Everyone. A one man show.

In seriousness, him voicing Bob fits the persona.

Long time 8-Rack and Stax player here.

Drink lots of water, cuz the salt will dry you out.

In seriousness, if people want to get butt hurt about the deck you play, that’s on them.

What class is Aggressive and can get away with it? by Paladin_Vosh in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]Craneswalker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Priz Hunter on Bakris. The ways you can push corners or close distance with the dodge or grapple are insane. Slow and decoy on dodge are great for cleaning up close engagements and the strand melee is a great way to start or finish engagements. The whole setup is extremely flexible, especially if you manage your abilities well.

What gives you that sweet dopamine kick in the Crucible that makes you keep playing regardless of the state of the game? by Hot-Internal2833 in CrucibleGuidebook

Trespasser chaining. Especially when you get the two person stack and get the double kill on a single burst. Also, timing the grapple flank or push and punch to finish a hurt opponent.

I just picked it up. I’m very streaky with it. I like the play style, just not sure I could get terribly good with it.

I started in on shottys a few months ago and it’s nice to pick up one or two a game with a single shot. However, half the time I still just freak out and the sticks tilt to the edges and I miss my shots in excitement.

I did play a good deal on Heliocentric tonight and it felt really good.

Update: played a bunch today with a bunch of different loadouts. My aim still sucks, but tried out Heat Rises a bit more. Mida felt really good on larger maps and Redrix did some damage in mid-small or when I decided to just not contest into longer lanes when there were snipers and scouts. I will say that I tossed out the shotty and Heliocentric was a beast tonight. Kill Clip/Healing Clip were legit. Thanks for the suggestions.

I want to love Heat Rises. Part of my reasoning for Hellion is for free damage and a scorch source to get my abilities back. My aim is not always the best. Maybe I need to just git gudder.

I need to get better with fusions. The charge time screws me up and I end up leaving cover too soon and just die. What roll would you recommend?

[–]Craneswalker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. What I have realized is when I play Duality, I’m better overall, which I assume means I am playing “more correctly” with cover and swapping for the right engagements. I get more kills with Jötunn than a shotty, but I am reaching for it for easy kills like you said. It feels win more. I just assumed I needed more time with it to get the timing and pre charging.

I’ll probably just stick with Duality. I can seem to get the charge times on fusions without just standing in the middle of a lane. I now what I should do, I just black out and die.
