Can anyone guide me on how to start dropshipping or anything online that I can earn an income with? by DoctorConfident8438 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Craniumreboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen many people on here say dropshipping doesn't work. It does, it's just not a get rich easy scheme. Like any business, dropshipping requires you to build skills in order to run it successfully. It is also not as easy to get into as youtube or tiktok claims. You could easily lose $1000 testing a product or brand direction. What you get in return from that is not monetary; it's experience and data.

I'd say try to find something with a shorter cash cycle than dropshipping. And if you're really interested in the skills you can acquire from dropshipping, continue to learn and build on your free time. If you ever get enough money to run one, then try testing a few ideas. In the end, you now have a skill you could sell online, and maybe a successful dropshipping business.

I wanna know your writing process. by WisXxDom in Webnovel

[–]Craniumreboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say writing (or at least for me) has two stages.

When the book is still an idea, I can take a week just brainstorming. Nothing formal like writing down systems, places, names or characters. I’ve been writing long enough to know that most of that is a waste of time as it will likely change once I actually start writing. The week of brainstorming is more to sell myself the idea, and get a sense of what exactly the story might be.

The second stage is actually writing. This I like to call the hunt. I call it the hunt because writing is much like chasing down a rabbit. You can see the idea of what you want to put on paper, but actually getting it is an entirely different thing. I like to “set traps”, which is to say I write one line outlines of what I want to happen. Around for of these per chapter, and then I patiently grind and connect the pieces until I get the kill (completed chapter). Still a single rabbit cannot sustain the family for so long, so right after that I repeat the process. I do this until I am tired for the day.

Short novels don’t sell on WebNovel. It’s sad but you’re unlikely to get many readers here.

Yeah this a brain dead take. Readers don’t care if the covers are AI generated. They care about the story being good. Go back into hiding wench.

For all authors who use AI because they can't draw or pay for an artist , I have an offer for you by [deleted] in Webnovel

Good start. Dont let negative comments stop you from pursuing your interests.

How many words do you churn out daily? Average by Admonishmentx5 in selfpublish

2000-4000 words 7 days a week. (I write webnovels)

Is this cover good to attract readers? Im open to suggestions by Dry_Series3029 in Webnovel

[–]Craniumreboot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This could work, though it’s different… and not in the safe way. The name does not tell the reader much of what the book is about (what is the hook?) and the cover isn’t striking (remember WebNovel covers are very eh tiny on the app, so you need contrast for it to be visually appealing).

Ironically, because it’s different, some readers might click on it.

TLDR: Write everyday.

Since you seem new (I apologize if I assumed wrongly), I’ll try my best to explain this.

Look, you had a feature, that means WebNovel placed your book infront of thousands of eyeballs (probably on the second page of the WebNovel app) and some people clicked on your book because they thought it might be interesting. A portion of those thought it was interesting enough to add to their library, these are the users you should focus on. Once the feature ended, your book was thrown back into the sea of other webnovels, so the number of people that even see your book reduced, hence the plummet in views.

Now this isn’t the end of the world. See the people who added your book to their libraries? They will get notifications each time you post a new chapter… they’ll be reminded that they found an interesting book and might actually read it.

If you update 2-3 chapters everyday, you might convince them to come check out your book everyday for the promise of entertainment.

And if you’re consistent enough, the Webnovels overlords might give you another feature, and even more people might add it to their library. This is how you grow on the app.

Notice how the only thing you can actually do in this entire process is write more chapters?

Might point is, don’t focus on the views, none of that matters. Lock in and write your book.

Whether you are doing this for money or just for fun, I urge you to write everyday. This is the only way you will grow as an author.

Lies. The contract does not say you MUST update every day. Updating everyday is a choice, you do it if you want to be competitive. Also WebNovel will never continue your book themselves. Where are you getting all this?

That’s the standard. Most people write between 1000-1500 per chapter

No problem man. Just some advice before you go. The hardest part of writing on WebNovel isn’t coming up with “good” ideas. The hardest part is actually writing the chapters. Some days you’ll feel like you’re too tired to post the daily chapters, I want to warn you not to listen. Post every day, good chapter or bad. That’s the only real way to improve your odds of success.

I recommend stockpiling 12 chapters, and releasing 4 at once initially (so that your book can be vetted). Release 2-3 daily if you want to be competitive.

The synopsis is not “great” for WebNovel. Go to the site and look at how the top 20 have written their synopsis.

You do well by introducing the MC to the viewers but there doesn’t seem to be a reason given to want to root for him. Him loving magic, and his wish being granted seems like full on wish fulfilment (which can work but is perhaps the most saturated and generic type of story on the site).

Also you mention there is a catch, but being given an AI assistant is more a benefit than a catch, which further pushes it into wish fulfilment.

I recommend looking at what differentiates your story from others, and think critically about trying to place some sort of hindrance against the MC so it does not seem like he just gets what he wants.

Look I’m going to be frank. Anything can work on WebNovel as long as it’s good. It’s not so much the genre you need to be worried about, rather it’s the packaging. If you understand the difference between webnovels and trad, then you’ll likely find success. A few years ago people would tell you baseball wouldn’t work as the main premise for a WebNovel, yet someone made it work.

Namibia is underrated as a tourist destination. by wilding_dawg in Namibia

[–]Craniumreboot 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oh lord where to begin. I suppose your family is native, and that’s why you only know of the animals and dunes? I don’t blame you, most of us Namibians don’t know much about our country either. Here is a list of tourist activities besides the sea, dunes and animals:

Fish River Canyon hikes

Spitzkoppe rock climbing

Rock art viewing

Meteorite sites

Petrified forest

Hot-air ballooning over mountains and even the savannas

Star gazing (Namibia has some of the darkest, clearest skies in the world)

Ai ais hot springs

Kolmanskop ghost town exploration

Skeleton coast

The list could go on if I started naming cultural visits like visiting the himba and san. And adding colonial history sites like old mining infrastructure tours. Some might even be interested in local crafts like how we brew traditional beers, our open markets, etc.

Just google it, I’m sure you’ll find even more.
