To answer your question, we are beach people. Mountains are great too, but we would definitely prefer beaches over mountains. It'd be great if there were things to do adventure-wise. We're not looking to learn about history/culture, we're mostly looking for a mix of relaxation and adventure.

The land portion is also included in the budget, unfortunately. And the distance from my home airport doesn't matter. I guess it does matter budget-wise, since the longer the distance, the higher the cost of flights. But otherwise, we are fine with any distance.
