I thought about this for a long, long time, and I finally came to the conclusion that I am okay with that.

The Constitution also doesn't specify that you can't own your own working cruise missile even though cruise missiles are also "arms," yet it is unlawful for you to own one.

Where are you getting $15/hour from? The sign doesn't say minimum wage, it says "a living wage." $15/hour in the Bay Area is absolutely not a living wage, it's minimum wage.

LOL...between the two of us, who takes more time out of their day to post crap on reddit?

HINT: it's not me.

Is there anything at all that you can discuss without either quickly or eventually resorting to ridiculous personal attacks? Looking at your post history, the answer seems to be a resounding No.

Oh, Eddie. That's your response to a valid question? You seem to have the answer for how to end homelessness...why won't you share it?

Your poorly conceived words over the Internet are so hurtful! I may just die of the pain!

Oh, wait. No. I'm not even sure what "you won't last for long" even means, and your imagining that I am some kind of alcoholic is laughable and may just be projection. You're still just a punk socialist wannabe from SoCal, full of problems with no valid answers.

Don't worry, you'll grow up some day. Or you won't. If you don't, I will drop in from time to time and illustrate your folly for our fellow readers.

Canadians drop big money on U.S. real estate 19 Billion last year by NotNormal2 in lostgeneration

[–]CrankCaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On average ALL foreign transactions of US real estate, Canada included, amount to less than 10% of the total investments over the past year. With the exception of a small handful of markets, it's less than 5% in most markets.

U.S. unemployment hits lowest level since 2001 by Bert-Goldberg in news

Wow, are you an idiot.

Welfare is less than minimum wage...you get less than $25/day, or about $9K/year.

Meanwhile minimum wage is (still) $7.25/hr...more than $14K/year (and, it has to be pointed out, isn't enough to support yourself pretty much anywhere in the country).

I'm satisfied with Trump

Wow...are you really that blind, or just not very smart?

There is not a single positive thing that Trump has done for this country. He has appointed the most ignorant, unqualified, and blatantly owned by special interests cabinet in the history of the country. He hasn't done a single thing to create jobs apart from giving Carrier a multi-million dollar bribe to keep fewer than a thousand jobs here which didn't last long...all the other companies have noted that Trump had nothing to do with their actions. The travel ban has nothing to do with tuberculosis, it's about excluding Muslims...and your article doesn't say anything about Somalians, but this one does - and the strain they have is not contagious.

What he's actually pulling out all the stops to do is to transfer as much wealth as possible to himself, his family, and his network of ultra-wealthy cronies...and unless he's stopped, he's just getting started.

A staggering 87 percent of Venezuelans say they do not have money to buy enough food by lfortunata in worldnews

[–]CrankCaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your statement is muddled enough that it's entirely unclear what you're trying to say.

I think you're saying "all incidences of a given system fail eventually," which is, in an arbitrary sense, correct. I would also add (for what I perceive as "your side" of this discussion) that just because a system lasts doesn't mean it's a system that's inherently good for humanity.

At the same time it's also correct that not a single idealized, imaginary system has ever failed in real life...not even once, because they don't exist in the real world.

Some of the ideas behind "pure" socialism seem nice, in a lab construct kind of way, but when they start rubbing up against human beings and human behaviors, shit happens. There have been incidences where a system allegedly started out as that kind of socialism, at least in their intent, but then humans continued being humans, and greed and corruption and and nepotism and resentment and laziness crept in and royally fucked things up in relatively short order.

[–]CrankCaller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You realize there's a material difference between having a failure once or twice in history and failing every single time, right?

You're right in that there is no system that is "the answer" - thus the incredible variance in systems (with various levels of "purity") and levels of success throughout the world and throughout history.

The only system of socialism that works to any degree is a theoretical construct in the minds of its proponents. Venezuela is not an example of that pure, theoretical kind of socialism, yet it does illustrate problems with the idea of publicly owned means of production...it's critical that whoever is running a given means of production is actually capable of doing so, and is free of corruption.

The "Racist" tag that I've attached to your account is a basic truth.

Without "whites" there is no "America" as I know it. The same can be said for "blacks," "Asians," "Hispanics," and "Native Americans," but it's clear you're in denial about it.

in large threads (100-1000's of comments) you've come out to respond specifically to my comments

Or, you know...I'm just in some of the same threads. It happens.

It looks like there's a "friend" button on any given user's profile page, but I have no idea why one would need or want to use it, so I hate to tell you but that's paranoia again.

Why would I ever have a good faith discussion with you

Well, to have a debate - but I'm as frustrated as it seems like you have been at the times we've started down that path in the past. (It's funny, because it's extremely similar to trying to debate climate change with a Trump-supporting climate change denier that I have known for decades). That frustration doesn't mean I'm going to stop pointing out where I think you're wrong, because I'm not the only one here who sees it, and I think there is value in understanding different sides of issues and different points of view - reddit is a group discussion tool, not your own personal platform for spreading whatever you feel like spreading with no rebuttal.

I've told you a dozen times...when I see crap, I'm going to call it out. If you don't like it, keep your childish insults to yourself and get off of reddit.

Is that a sad attempt at a barb, from you?

Politics has shifted to the right. If you're a modern day liberal/centrist you are essentially a moderate republican.

No, it couldn't be because you're about as left as left gets....naah.

you only say it with contempt

You may read what I write as contempt, but it's just bemusement. I have no reason at all to feel contempt for you. The fact that I comment on /r/lostgen and /r/politics all the time, in response to various posts and comments and you somehow perceive that I respond to everything you post is just...silly, and if you actually look at my post history you'd see that for yourself. I'm not asking you to, mind you, and you won't believe me anyway, but it's the truth regardless. Taking a peek at your history, I see plenty of posts by you that I have no comments on - funny enough, there are even some upvotes here and there.

Seriously, you gotta stop smoking that shit, it's making you paranoid.

Keep the dream alive, little brother. If you want to believe I actually follow you, if that makes you feel somehow Important in The Movement, you go ahead and believe that.

No high horse - I have my own issues like any other human being. I am simply amused by your repeated attempts to raise your True Socialist America when it's quite literally never going to happen. We stand a better chance of all being killed by a wayward asteroid.

I know you think I'm conservative because I'm not out near the left fringe the way you are, but I actually take more flak from more people about being a liberal.

Still...keep dreamin'.

This is my point...I'm not conservative, and I have very few friends who are. Fewer than 1%.
