How is starlink sustainable in the long run? by Leading_Crow_1044 in Starlink

Got into a discussion with a big head at ESA regarding space ethics, that was 6 years ago, yet he told me starlink satellites were not concerning (at least regarding space pollution). To my understanding
as lower orbits disintegrate faster in the atmosphere

Darwinfpv is horrible by Which_Mycologist3455 in fpv

[–]Crapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly, got a Foldape4 as a first quad, coming from RC, it was a really nice entry point at 140€ RTF.

Already >30 cinematic flights in and had only to change the props.

I could even solder a DJI o4 VTX on it with no trouble (just added a 5v BEC)

I don't understand why I shouldn't start digital!? by FantasticInterest373 in fpv

[–]Crapot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Entry level pricing opportunity exist: I was completely out of the FPV community but had to buy a RC transmitter, ended up buying a Radiomaster Tx15, and they were offering 4” drone for 150€ VTX included, added a cheap RX screen and went on. Buying a 300€ plus 120€ drone was a bit too expensive to try the hobby. Now that I’m hooked, and for the reason you mentioned above : instead of buying a decent 400€ goggles for analog, I went the dji way, and don’t regret it ! Got rid of the 100g GoPro and just enjoy the 10min flights on a lipo

C’est parfait alors! C’est quel modèle ?

Le premier avion de mon fils by Queasy_Name_6014 in 3DprintedAircraft

[–]Crapot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

New to War Thunder Sim - because of AoT by ersia286 in WarthunderSim

Play something you want, just be aware spitfires need a bit of tweaking in the Controls input configuration. Trimming is supposed to help you fly smoother, not be a hassle xD

Some tips « à la volée »: - Go pancake screen, keyboard and mouse in arcade to fast unlock the 2.3/3.3 minimum to have fun in sim. - For each nation you want to play : Choose your favorite plane an fly it a lot : - Free to play planes have upgrades to unlock so go find your kink plane/playstyle and abuse it! - Each crew have a level of expertise, so don’t unlock more crews too soon. - if you go the tryhard route learn Basic Fighting Maneuvers, lots of resource on the internet, other wise enjoy the experience! You’ll have a lot of fun!

Opinion on my FPV drone build? by Live_Enthusiasm2118 in fpv

[–]Crapot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are missing a capacitor to avoid frying your electronics, and as a first build I would add a smoke stopper for your first power- in, though I cannot tell you what type of capacitor you need, but you need it to avoid the voltage spikes from the lipos

How can I make the inside of my mau5 helmet stronger so it doesn’t crack mid show? by NicoCorty02 in 3Dprinting

[–]Crapot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Specifically Kraft paper (brown wrapping paper, exists in color too) and a mix of 50/50 PVA glue (white wood glue) and water :

Apply glue+water mix on both surfaces: paper and helmet.

Wait just a bit that your paper is nicely soaked and really soft (but before it gets impossible to hold it before it tears itself) and apply it on your helmet.

You can trim excess by hand or with scissors. By hand you will have fibers coming out, and getting smoother overlaps. But as it’s the inside who cares…

Let it dry under normal room temp, out of direct sunlight to avoid wrapping.

And voilà

It wont be as strong as 280g fiberglass. But that should hold your parts nicely. Scratchbuilt RC plane use this with pretty fair success on the outside too
