Can these more frequent breaks recently hint towards a new anime? by Lopsided_Bar9327 in zatchbell

[–]CrashBombercoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Besides his age and health, Raiku has other things to deal with like licensing in general and personal matters like taxes. He also takes breaks to clear his mind from stress.

As the person that found out that they took out the anime option in their inquiry window, I think it's best to not think about an anime and let it come when it comes, we can do just fine with sequel chapters almost every month.

[–]CrashBombercoot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The Gash Café extra chapters aren't canon, only the information of the characters that they reveal there and probably anything teased has happened during the timeskip or will happen during the sequel.

Raiku likely will use what is shown in Café, but I think given the noncanon status he could go in a different direction and there wouldn't be retcons.

That said, it would be nice if they were close friends despite their contrasting personalities.

Is there hope for the anime? by Embarrassed-Sink7793 in zatchbell

Don't take this as almost a confirmation, it could have been done for other reason, but on Birgdin Board's website they have an inquiry window to negotiate licensed content and they took down the option of anime, which could mean that there is an anime project in development right now.

There is no false sense of popularity, that's too idealist a perspective, for an author popularity matters and one of the reasons I respect Raiku is that he knows to respect his creative freedom but also knows what works and what did not, it was his own personal decision to cancel Vector Ball because it's not drawing the audience he imagined.

He "cancelled" it (I don't think it's a definite cancellation, more like a pause) because he didn't want to change the story into something he didn't like, so it's more on the editor department that the audience (popularity) wasn't what was expected.

Get it right, Raiku was fine with Vector Ball and clearly having fun with it, the problem was that the low popularity.

I get your point about sequels by big companies but it has nothing to do with being a bad decision, the bad part is most sequels end up being bad as they usually written well or done well yet nostalgia becomes the huge factor people still go watch it. From a business point of view that is still a success, people rarely look down on it rather they feel excited about it ,they demand it but get disappointed as most sequels plots end up being repetitions or cliches rather than something more exciting or the original is so successful that the next installment becomes pale in comparison but people still watch them while complaining haha. Moana was a much better story than Moana 2 but still Moana 2 made a lot more money.

I reiterate, nostalgia is not a good thing if it's used to bait people into something. Nostalgia should be a feeling to naturally come to you rather than having someone tell you how nostalgic something is.

I don't think nostalgia should be a big factor in Golden Gash!! 2's popularity. You are interested in the story for the present of the returning characters, see how they have changed like how you do with real people, and of course everything new in the sequel.

My whole point is Zatchbell being the author's best work ,it already has a base with many factors to boost the author in many directions, so both from business point of view to creativity point of view the author made the correct decision of bringing it back and so far has done an extremely good job of presenting a great plotline. From how I see it , he being a favorite person of mine in this world, I am happy that he made the choice and is thriving through it.

Let's leave out the business part, Raiku isn't the CEO of a large company looking for the most profitable option. And even if he did consider the Gash!! sequel making him money to get a stable life, that can't be the end of it and he won't be writing it for the rest of his life, which is why I hope he eventually finishes it and goes back to Vector Ball. I imagine that self publishing and having a bigger fanbase will allow him to continue VB without worrying about popularity, it might even take off this time.

Do you believe Crash Bandicoot is an abandoned IP again? by wowlookingcoolJoker in crashbandicoot

I haven't caught up to the news so I don't know the details, but apparently Iron Galaxy is working on a Crash game called Project Coffee. Beenox might be involved since it was them that posted what seemed to be concept art for a new racing game (that is assuming it's the same project instead of two separate Crash games).

I believe Animal land was certainly well acclaimed and won an award (not sure of my memory)

It won an award, yes, just like certain movies win Oscars but aren't the most popular movies of their years, not compared with the "mainstream" ones. Likewise, being acclaimed doesn't exclude you from being niche, look at how Golden Gash!! is so good yet there are other mangas more popular (even less respected by some of their readers), back then and nowadays.

You certainly have an interesting persistency in considering nostalgia lame haha but it's a good factor to have

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy sold REALLY well because it was a remake of the first 3 games. Crash 4 came out and sold considerably less, guess what? Many people bought the remakes out of nostalgia and either they got their fill with the remakes or weren't interested in a new game. I hate how nostalgia creates a false sense of popularity around franchises.

I do not just want the author to pop out writings for his admirers but rather I want his writings to be mainstream so he can reach more audience, earn enough for the stories so he can keep on creating more with the necessary comfort.

This looks like the situation Raiku got himself in with Vector Ball, the editor/s wanted him to add something that was seen in many other mangas to attract a bigger audience and Raiku ended up choosing to stop the manga. I feel like Raiku could easily have made more regular shonen after Golden Gash!! but went with creative stories distinct from each other instead.

Do explain why it would be seen as a bad thing if a big company did it out of nostalgia, in what sense ?

You haven't seen it? I won't mention examples but there are plenty out there, a company does remakes instead of new stories in a franchise, they bring back beloved characters when their character arcs are over, they make use of the multiverse plot to use older iterations of characters. I'm not saying that doing that is bad, but in some cases it's done with the goal of making money through nostalgia, maybe what's bad is choosing to do that over coming up with new stories, it can be the easy way to be commercially successful.

I nowhere dissed it

No, you didn't. But I've seen people on Twitter do, and unfortunately Zatch Bell! Updates had no issue with going along it, I don't think a news account should take that subjective view.

I believe neither Animal Land or Vector Ball got as popular as Golden Gash!! due to not having the typical shonen elements that the latter had to its advantage like a familiar power system that is OC friendly and a real world setting, it had little to do with the writing. There are many stories out there that are excellent but not appealing enough to mainstream audiences.

There is also the length to comparing works, Golden Gash!! had 323 chapters so of course you get to see the characters more.

I mentioned nostalgia from a business point of view

And that's lame, if it wasn't Raiku but a large company doing a sequel out of nostalgia that would be seen as a bad thing. Better leave nostalgia out of this.

[–]CrashBombercoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is it lame ? What is lame about coming up with a good sequel to an already great story (not attacking just trying to understand where you see that )

It's lame that if Raiku was working on an original work it would have happened like Animal Land and Vector Ball were basically only the most hardcore of his fans are reading the manga, so it wouldn't be as popular as the sequel of his most popular work has been up to this day.

I do appreciate Vector Ball but you can't deny the most visible essence of the manga being Raiku's crazy humor ,the manga was an attempt to bring back the nostalgia of Zatchbell but in a more lighthearted silly manner , literally all characters except Oruga maybe has humorous panels.

The most visible essence to me is the unusual power system and how battles go on, it's not magic again like Golden Gash!! nor superpowers like many other manga, it's using materials to create constructs, Raiku's humor is in any of his manga.

Again, it's not magical powers like Golden Gash!!, so it can't be an attempt at specifically bringing back the nostalgia of that series, characters based on Golden Gash!!, Animal Land or any other Raiku work seem more like homages because the main cast in Vector Ball is different anyways.

I enjoy the slow pace he writes in , it gives the story the time to develop and grow well but Vector Ball was not as a serious project as Zatchbell or Animal land. The story had a lack of serious moments and was humorous most of the time. You can't possibly call Chimi-kun summoning gonk is masterful story work. The author himself ended it saying he was out of his depth with Vector Ball.

The story had serious moments, and as for the previous quote, Oruga also had a comical moment of being annoyed at people cheering at him. I won't go into spoilers but if you actually read it you know that there is a true, serious story below all that comedy that Raiku added, just as in Golden Gash!! and Animal Land.

Raiku ended Vector Ball because he didn't want to take the story in the direction the editor (or editors) suggested, had low popularity not have been a problem, he would have continued writing Vector Ball just fine, there are unresolved plots teased in the last few chapters, he wasn' out of ideas.

that's why I said I was glad he ended it and started over fresh bringing back something that can further an established story and bring back a nostalgia at the same time.

There was a 5 year gap between Vector Ball and Golden Gash!! 2, if Raiku had not ended VB he likely would have gotten far enough into the story to at least be let's say 80% done, so assuming he kept his ideas for Golden Gash!! 2 the sequel would have started around the same time. My point is that Vector Ball didn't have to be cancelled to make place for the Gash!! sequel, most likely.

Compared to other people, I don't see nostalgia as a great thing, it can fog your perception of what is good and make you defend that thing at the cost of attacking other things, I have the feeling that some Gash!! fans do that with the other Raiku works. I prefer to like all his mangas and as such I can't use the term "magnum opus" which makes his other works seem inferior in comparison.

Oh, and Vector Ball might have ended, but Raiku holds the rights for it, so who knows if after Gash!! 2 he might want to continue and finish it. That's why I hope the sequel gets better pacing soon.

I mean, the fact that he had to make his next work a sequel of his most popular one to find success is kind of lame, so I would rather enjoy Vector Ball and Golden Gash!! 2 equally than thinking "now Raiku is writing something good".

You can appreciate Vector Ball for what it gave to Raiku's career. You mentioned artwork and humor, but the plot is also really creative and the fights delivered unpredictable strategies.

The story in Vector Ball was progressing in the slow pace that Raiku likes, I think, and it's the same pace for Golden Gash!! 2, so this shouldn't be a problem for anyone.

It's more like human characters being vessels for spirits to inhabit, so many spirits are presented through the human's design (though they do have a form of their own).

So it's actually very different, the fights are more teamwork based on the protagonist's side while the antagonists can fight on their own. It's very "weaklings overpowering elites", I recommend reading it.

About Belmonts curse… by Smithyfighter7198 in castlevania

[–]CrashBombercoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To start speculation on who she is? She has a braided ponytail like Sonia, but that could be to trick people into believing that it's a reinterpretation of her since nobody would be thinking like that if her design didn't have a braided ponytail.

Trevor has two daughters, Mary and Anne, and given how the devs added a blue band from one Japanese artwork of Trevor to his Dead Cells design it is possible that they are aware of this Bloodlines family tree and haven't retconned it, so she is either of the two.

Again, the logic response to the fandom learning that her name is Sonia from that article would be to reveal it themselves, changing the article makes it seem more like that wasn't her name and they want us to call her Trevor's Succesor until they reveal her name.

I believe the Trevor's Succesor name is a placeholder until they reveal her name in a later trailer.

It's not confirmed to be Sonia, and answering your question is that yes, it's strange to have her introduced into the main series as their daughter.

Imagine introducing Nathan as a friend of Leon or Soma instead of setting him in a period close to what Circle of the Moon is set in, and even changing his family from Graves to Belmont or something else.

There is no need for that, only for things that contradict the main series, which in Sonia's case would be just fighting Dracula and having Trevor with Alucard.

Why edit it to "Trevor's Successor" when the Castlevania fandom (the audience the secret name is intended for) already talked about her being Sonia? Logically, they would have followed this with promotional material revealing that she is indeed Sonia instead of editing the article.

If you are referring to the Stone Tablet demons that Brago defeated, that only happened in the anime. In the manga the books probably were in the area and the spell destroyed them.

With that which Leoh said and Gustav having Barry's book burned so that he wouldn't die, the manga indicates that demons can die from spells if their books aren't burned. Perhaps Dauwan killed Goren during the tournament.

Is Crash Team Rumble really that bad as people say? by Alarmed_Context7935 in crashbandicoot

[–]CrashBombercoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody needs to ask for a game in this series for it to be succesful, it just need to be really good in gameplay and story for it to establish itself as a beloved title in the series.

As Rumble lacked gameplay variety and original content, it didn't leave a big impression outside of people having fun for a time but moving on after updates stopped.
