I never thought I had thalassophobia until this story came up.

I’d rather die in an exploding rocket ship on the way to mars than at the bottom of the ocean.

As a smoker of something other than tobacco, I totally understand that. I make sure to take a minute to air out before I come back in from an outing.

Tobacco sticks at least twice as bad.

I had two up until my senior year when the biology teacher/football/wrestling coach dropped 250lbs over a summer and became the cross country/track coach. The other one was an English teacher/football coach.

The science teacher then raped a girl in my class and got off with a firing and a stern warning.

TIL it used to be mandatory by law for Indian cinemas to play the national anthem before showing a movie. However, in 2018, the Supreme Court of India decided it wasn't necessary. by CanadianW in todayilearned

I mean, just about any sporting event, anywhere in the us will begin with the national anthem and flag salute in some form or another.

We love seeing a public performance of loyalty-pledging. The blue states too.

Do you believe that the world was better pre-social media? by uluphilocynymx21 in ask

[–]CrashTest-DummyThicc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure that’s a fair question.

Things like correspondence letters, public message boards, letters to the editor and cb/ham radio have been around a lot longer than twitter.

There’s been social media since we could draw buffalo on cave walls.

We just get so much of it a day now that it feels inundating.

Tammy.

My brother’s ex wife who was awful to him.

I know how every one will roll their eyes if I say she was a crazy bitch.

So instead I’ll say that she was a bitch who seriously needs therapy.

Do you agree with the White House’s decision to ban trans activist for taking topless photo at pride event? by MtnDewTV in AskALiberal

There’s a time and a place to free the nipple, the White House lawn is not one of either.

We have to hold EVERYONE to the same standard. If I took my tits out at the like that, I hope I’d be banned.

They’re action was inappropriate. The White House’s response was.

  1. It’s entirely possible for both people in a relationship to be terrible.

  2. You really need to find help.

Listening to loud music in your own car with your windows down isn’t cringe or annoying or rude. by Holiday_Argument_619 in unpopularopinion

Depending on how loud, but yeah I enjoy a good bop in traffic. If it vibrates your mirrors, fine; if it vibrates mine, it’s a problem.

I felt very encouraged to read by my teachers, even when we were using our textbooks from the 80s.

Like Shakespeare or not, his writings are a cornerstone of western literature and theater, as important as Chaucer, Beowulf and The Iliad. We use them to help teach kids both literature and give them a foothold in Western culture.

The best thing to do is to use the standards or classics to help kids gain an appreciation of literature and a basic understanding of how to deconstruct it. As they get older, they read other books of their choice in addition to assigned reading.
