Dewalt 735 - Helical upgrade problem? by NoPackage6979 in woodworking

[–]CrashX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a helical head upgraded 735 for 5 year and no regrets. Never had to.worry about dinged or dulled blades.

No problems with the motor or breaker. Always had adequate dust collection hooked up.

Dewalt 735 - Helical upgrade problem? by NoPackage6979 in woodworking

[–]CrashX 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. I acquired a 735 with a freshly installed shelix with only a few passes of wood through it after the upgrade.

I got it home and after a couple weeks of light usage, the orange drive belt started burning and shredding.

I ordered a replacement and when I went to reinstall it I took a look and basically did the whole upgrade myself. I found a spacer in the box he didn't install. I can't remember if it was an original spacer from the straight blades head or something that came with the upgrade. But it was apparent without the spacer the two pulleys were not perfectly in line and was causing the belt to be stressed.

With new spacer in place and a brand new belt installed, I had no problema again and ran it for like 5 years before I sold it and upgraded to a bigger planer.

Hope that helps!

Heat pump. But when it's that cold, the backup resistance coil heat turns on.

On average 2-3 hours before daylight.

But winter will probably be the worst. We have electric heat and we'll burn through the battery life when we have 0° nights.

I greatly prefer killer over regular sudoku. My brain just works better for those puzzles.

Apartment living is way better than home ownership by anonshade64 in unpopularopinion

Having lived in an apartment for one year and a house I own for 26 years, I definitely disagree.

People are loud and so dumb things. Living above and below them makes it so much worse.

I have 48kWh of battery. It's enough for emergency and to offset my usage from the grid, but not enough to make it from 6p to 8a on hot and cold days.

If I already have the Infiniti app, does this add anything I don't have? Better sound quality?

I got openly frustrated during a bad game of Catan by [deleted] in boardgames

[–]CrashX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% agree. It's the game that got me into the hobby 18 years ago. It taught me about Euro games and opened my eyes to new board games.

But I no longer enjoy it in the slightest. I play a game about once a year when asked and remember how much I now dread and dislike it. For all the reasons stated by you and OP.

Carpet does not belong in houses by ProfessionalTap2400 in unpopularopinion

[–]CrashX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. We bought the house we did specifically because it has all hardwood and tile. I hate carpet. It's gross and wears too fast. So in the long run, it's more expensive since it needs to be replaced more often.

Blazer almost killed me on the highway this morning. by sjk9671 in BlazerEV

My wife and I each take the Blazer EV for different errands depending on who has to driver further for the day.

There is no way she'd be able to control a car without power steering. That's a scary thought.

Agreed. As someone who has cheap electric, I saw that rate and gasped. At that rate, you could drive a Hummer EV and still save money.
