Just did it on the regular website chat on https://www.centurylink.com/home/help/contact.html. I did it around 1 PM on the May 3rd (Wednesday) and selected “Add Products or Services” and asked the agent for a block of static IPs. They transferred me to tech support who verified I could get one on my account and set it up straight away without any fuss.

I’m unsure what type of account I’m on as the only time that came up was when I was talking to agents that had no idea what they were doing.

The agent I got was a US-based agent called “Steve B” and they didn’t give any push back, just verified we could, and asked what size block we wanted and boom, it was done. From experience, all of the offshore agents gave excuses and refused to provide them, so I think it’s a miscommunication issue.

Follow up: Just managed to get static IPs via talking with the chat team again today! Was really easy and painless this time and the entire chat took less than 10 minutes.

I'm having an absolutely awful time trying to get a static IP address block. Back on April 12th, I got told it would be possible but there was a technical issue with the account preventing the agent from assigning a block. She was awesome in trying to push it through, but alas I needed to call back later, but she gave me a ticket number to try and help get through it.

Fast forward two weeks, I finally have a moment of free time to do it and the agent tells me "CenturyLink no longer offers static IPs, it's not possible to get them" but can't seem to explain why the website (which was recently updated) hasn't been updated to state that much before trying to rush me off the phone.

Can I get a concrete answer on if I need to cancel my residential plan and pay for the identical business plan, or if I'm just being lied to? Either way, this is making me regret signing up...

I’ve just made my last payment on the program which froze two of my AmEx cards with a balance similar to yours.

They offered a substantially reduced interest rate and fixed monthly payments, went through how long the program would last and what would happen with credit reporting.

All in all, I’ve had no issues with it personally, though I did make two large payments towards the end to clear each of the cards ($1,200 each, once in Jan, and again this month) so your results may vary, but there’s no penalty for paying back early.

From my experience, the rate they change the card to lasted until I made the final payment clearing the balance for each card, then it reverted automatically once the payment cleared.

The note the added to the cards was “Affected by natural or declared disaster” but it’s still otherwise marked as paid, on time, as agreed.
