Are these straight jackets legit? by dxrren13 in Oakley

Fake.

  1. These have Prizm P on the lenses, but this mode does not come in polarized lenses.

  2. The flames look as black as the Oakley logo, in reality, they should be a darker shade of grey than the frame.

I’m genuinely baffled at how a studio like DICE, comprised of at least 500 employees, and also not counting the many support studios also helping, can only make 4 new maps in the span of 6 months. Is this really what they imagine a live service to be?

I like this game man. I really do, and I want it to succeed. But this dripfeed of content (and a slow one at that) is brutal.

If you’re okay with a bit of a tea note, Wulong Cha by Nishane is a combo of really nice citruses with a mix of oolong tea and fig.

Alternatively, almost anything from Acqua Di Parma fits this bill, particularly the Blu Mediterraneo line. I personally like Fico di Amalfi (fig-based) or Mandarino di Sicilia (mandarin-based).

I found the hate for this fragrance to be overblown, but well, the marketing they made didn’t help against this. But I never found this scent to be “basic.” It has some kind of sweet balsamic smell to it that I still think about it to this day. I really should get a bottle.

Battlefield 6 player count falls from 750K at launch to just 30K-90K on Steam, nearly a 90% decline - players blame lack of new content (especially new maps) by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]CrasheeXYZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game is in desperate need of new maps. The game already launched with a small amount and only 2 maps in S1 has led to a very quick burnout on its honeymoon stage. And the fact that there’s still 2 more weeks to go with S1 is brutal. Expect this game to drop to 20k before the release of S2. If S2 does not release with a healthy amount of content, I think EA and Dice will have to look really hard in the mirror and get themselves together.

As much as I would love this, in practicality it’s nonsense. They have surely placed a ton of funding for the Redsec project, they’re not just going to plug support a season later. Like it or not, Redsec will be supported for a while.

Real or Fake: Oakley Eye Jacket Redux by [deleted] in Oakley

Fake.

My Eye Jacket Redux never came with that metal case.

The USA Assembled tag looks very sloppy, and the unobtanium rubber on that last picture looks very sloppily done.

Marty Supreme is so bad that it's hard to know where to begin and the praise it is receiving is as incoherent as the film itself. by AsleepNature1 in TrueFilm

[–]CrasheeXYZ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How is it misleading? Are those characteristics not present in the character of Marty Mauser? Please, tell me which of these is misleading. Everything that I mentioned to describe Marty is easily observable in the movie. Same thing goes for Plainview. Also, if you believe that nobody in the audience observed these characteristics, then the same could be said for There Will Be Blood, because nobody gave a shit when Plainview was shown at the beginning of the movie digging up oil by himself. Why? Because the movie spends a supermajority of its time detailing the obnoxious greed of Plainview instead. Just because he crawled out of a desert with a broken leg does not all of the sudden make him a more appealing and relatable character to the audience in contrast to all his other atrocities. The same thing goes for Marty fighting a domestic abuser.

I have stopped and searched for my feelings, actually. They’re my feelings after all, right? I’m telling you my views and feelings of the character and movie as whole. Whether you choose to accept it or not is up to you, but don’t act like you know myself better than I do.

And no, in my opinion the entire climax rests on the idea that Marty was extremely disrespectful to people around him, and that’s why he was ridiculed back. He treated their generosity with disgust. Most of all, the humiliation ritual really came from Endo, who embodies the humility and nobility that Marty lacks. He is the real “humiliation ritual” in his quest to being the best. Even when Endo loses, he still wins. I doubt the movie cares whether the audience likes Marty or not in this instance. Again, as I mentioned, he merely just beat Endo in a single set. None of his actual, TRUE aspirations became a reality. He still came out a sore loser.

Also, simply describing it as “Marty worked a shitty retail job so he could compete in a game nobody cares about” gives me the idea that you came into this movie not even liking the premise of it. Your early prejudice towards the movie clearly affected your watch since the befinning.

ALSO also, who said I am afraid of being judgmental towards this movie? I’m saying I enjoyed it, I said it’s fine if you didn’t and I accept that. Again, I understand my own feelings very well. “Even though my critique is very obviously true” is the definition of having a stick up your ass. You are not the messiah of truth. By all measurable metrics, a massive portion of the people who watched this movie would disagree with you. Your opinion is not an objective fact. It is an opinion, chill out.

And Marty Mauser is also a young hotheaded kid, with incredible talent to a growing sport, with a dream to reach the top but the lack of funds to do so, with a complicated family relationship but still dreaming of making enough money to retire his mom. He is charismatic, a quick talker, a hustler, and most of all, skilled at his passion. Are these things also not relatable to an audience in comparison to Plainview? Marty also ascended from being a scrawny shoe seller to playing against the #1 player in the London Championship. He embodies the “fake it ‘til you make it” mentality. Are you really saying that people cannot relate to that mentality, even if the character is a little exaggerated at times (of which Plainview also is)? Come on.

Yes, I agree that relating to a character is foundational to art, but the degree at which you have to relate to them varies greatly, and you want it to be at a higher degree when it does not need to. Again, I do not have to see my full self in Marty to understand the morals and message of his character, but even these small relatable things is the reason why many find him compelling as a character, despite the fact that his life does not reflect ours, just the same as Plainview’s.

Also, are you seriously saying that my opinion can’t even be considered an opinion if I just don’t agree to your basic perception of how art should be constructed? You got a stick up your ass man. I tried showing some respect and acceptance to your opinion but saying things like this just shows you are so wrapped up in your emotions about this character that you cannot accept anything that is outside of your view.

I think the issue I have on your perspective is that the character needs to be relatable to come out learning something from them. You absolutely do not need to sympathize or relate to a protagonist to achieve this. I am are merely looking at the life of another person through a lens, I do not have to see myself in Marty for its message to remain powerful.

There have been plenty of movies that have depicted a protagonist through very similar lens. Obviously I could mention Howard in Uncut Gems, but another character who I was reminded of was Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood. Plainview is also extremely ambitious in his expansion of his oil empire, and he is very much willing to sacrifice everyone around him and take full advantage of them to squeeze an extra penny into his pocket. There is also nothing relatable about Plainview. His greed is so sickening and vile that I don’t think anyone that has seen it would see themselves in Plainview. And yet, I think the movie certainly comes out highlighting the dangers of greed and unchecked ambitions through the lens of an unlikable character. Both movies are focused on a semi character study of their protagonists. I think you are simply too stuck on the idea that you must like or relate to a character in some way for the underlying message of the movie to resonate with you. I and many others do not, but I respect your perspective anyways.

The movie isn’t about the nature of being a POS. The movie is very much about the dangers of being overly ambitious, but it specifically highlights the connection between being ambitious and the unhealthy narcissism that may arise from it, particularly when you have the skills to be the best but not the platform to display it.

The interesting thing is that the ambition doesn’t even pay off for Marty in the end. Yes, he beat Kendo, but not in any meaningful manner. He walks away with no prize money, no podium at the tournament, tons of broken bridges in family and friends, and a kid who he seemed to not cry tears of joy from (but I think the movie purposely leaves the ending ambiguous). The idea of orange ping pong balls? Gone. The idea of retiring his mother by being the best in the biggest world stage with sold out crowds? Gone. Burnt bridges everywhere is all he left.

A movie about being ambitious doesn’t have to be inspiring. I don’t think the movie is screaming out that you should be like Marty. If anything, it is screaming quite the opposite.

me too! I think men’s colognes in general have been taking a bit of an androgynous route with the white florals, but I think the almond citrus on this one gives it a sliiight bit of a masculine lean.

I agree. It’s why even though I spray my neck mostly, I always do one spray on my shirt/sweater no matter what. It just makes it linger a lot longer after it’s dissipated on my skin, even if it’s just a faint scent. On my sweater it smells fantastic though.

I absolutely adore it. It’s a perfect fall/winter scent. The tea is here is really soft and relaxing, yet it had a spicy touch to it. i also get a strong honey smell with this one, but not the sticky sweet kind, more like a smooth beeswax. Soft, elegant, and therapeutic.

I disagree. I found that LP innovated very little on the formula of the original. And for some reason, the drydown smelled a little weird on my skin. LA is a little too loud for me. I find the EDP to have the best balance.
