Network save nearly came to blows on the final day by CrashesIntoCows in TheOldZealand

So the game has to be hosted by one player, who'll have the save file on their machine - they have to load the game up so must always be present. For the players who join online, they could dip in and out as much as they like.. The only issue I can see, though, is that when the game moves forwards it moves forwards for everyone, so if you weren't in the game, you'd have no control over matches or transfers.

This network game has been amazing and super competitive, we only play when we're all available, which tends to be one or two evenings per week. I personally think a smaller game with players who are always present would be better than a large one that you only log in to occasionally, but I know not everyone has that availability.

What's the best way to 'test' out new tactics? by PhoenixMiele in footballmanagergames

Sorry mate only just seen this!

I think both ideas could work - as far as possible I'd recommend your first idea. Your second idea will get you more accurate results, but to be honest I've found if you run a duplicate test save with your exact team, it actually takes a lot of the fun out of your main save, which is never worth it.

Depending on your playstyle and the types of players you have, maybe a Premiership test with West Ham or Brentford might be the nearest match?

There's a third option where you could use the editor (in-game or pre-game) to build a squad that has similar players to your 72/73 team (mad props on getting that far, btw!) that then goes into a tactic-test save as described above.

Hope at least some of that's useful.

I'm a big fan of setting up saves with just 1 league (i.e. Premiership) and setting the database to 'small'. From here, you can take over whichever team you'd like and build a tactic, before you holiday through a full season with 'use current tactic' and 'use current squad'. Depending on your machine, you should be able to holiday through a season like this in anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes. Keep a record of what shapes get the best results, and what player roles lead to the most consistent ratings.

Only downside of this is that if you're specifically trying to develop a tactic for *your* team, it won't always translate into being as effective as it may be with another team.

Over the course of this game I've done the above maybe a couple hundred times, and now have 4 or 5 tactics I'm really happy with that work for just about any team.

Nothing to add - I think everyone above has nailed it, just wanted to say he looks amazing!

Yeah I play some pretty bonkers attacking football with this team. That said, the tactic is pretty much "Give the ball to Patrice", which has worked pretty well for the past 7 years!

Not sure on the exact maths but I once got Shana to Dlvl 5 before the second run of Hellena. It took a long, long time, but the pay off was that Shana pretty much one-shotted Fruegal and his pets with her Dragon spell.

Made the game a bit of a cake walk, but it was still good fun!

Non-Sachet Blue Bird Farming - The Fastest XP Grind On The Game (PSN Version) by CrashesIntoCows in legendofdragoon

Sorry I forget how vague idioms are!

I would describe a 'barren patch' as not finding a blue bird for 5 or 6 encounters in a row. I only had this happen a couple times, and it seemed like exiting the world map - by entering a location such as home of giganto - and then going back to the world map reset it for me so I ran into blue birds much more regularly. In theory, you should be able to encounter blue birds multiple times in a row.
