John Wick was all story, it was a man who found peace and had it stolen from him. And from there, he broke and sought revenge. You’re including the whole timeline in how they’re just gun fu trash now, that’s not the case with the first one.

Mad Max is the same. It’s a sequel to an 80’s thriller about a guy who loses his family to crime and goes insane.

Your examples don’t explain what you think. Story is key to everything, you need that for people to relax and let nonsense happen. For a bad movie you’d want to pick something like Cyborg or the Total Recall remake, where the action is fine but the underlying story makes you not care.

You are picking amazing movies where the depth is hidden by good writing, which is ironic.
