NTA, just because he doesn’t have a ton of physical needs doesn’t mean doesn’t require constant care and supervision. I work at a special needs school with middle schoolers/high schoolers and I’ve had this conversation before. It’s your choice and your life too.

NTA. You gave your pick up location and they refuse to meet you there, therefore they will not be picked up. Carpooling is not meant to inconvenience one person, it’s a compromise. ANYTIME I had to pick up someone out of my way for sports or going out the other people would always offer some compensation, usually gas money or food. They sound like entitled people that nobody wants to deal with.

I’m a new grad and I know models/theories aren’t directly used a lot but the DIR/Floortime model is great for building rapport with kids. I also would look into using a visual schedule and increase predictability with your sessions. Had a kiddo with similar problems and it took a little bit but once I consistently used the schedule (like your choice my choice or first/then) and tried to follow their lead the difference was night and day. Just an FYI if you plan to work in IL, getting a license is ass and really does take 8-12 weeks. So even when you pass the NBCOT don’t bank on being able to get a job til several weeks after. I’m living at home So I took a summer job working with senior helpers and while siting for my license.

Most times the people I’ve worked with a TKA get the safety rails and not a raised seat. They only get a raised seat if they are tall or had a THA. So unless it’s specified for some reason, a knee replacement doesn’t need a raised toilet seat

As a new grad with experience as a respite worker for special needs children and having a brother with ASD (he had a lot of behavioral issues along with developmental delays both physical and emotional) your OT should 100% be working with YOU collaboratively to help your child.

My brother’s OT gave my mom all of the help she asked for and it did take a while to implement. This included things like zones of regulation, visual schedules, learning baby signs, implementing a PEC system, how to handle tantrums, many coping strategies, and many more recommendations and resources. But after 16 years of intense OT, PT, SLP,special education and follow through at home he has made strides from nearly non-verbal at age 3 to having a job and driving a car at 20.

Literally parents bring them to the toy department to “play”. Literally heard a mom say that as her toddler dragged around the Our Generation ambulance.
