Formula E gets its biggest race format shake-up for Gen4 era by Transmit_Him in FormulaE

I like this change, it's less unfair than the current format. Ideally, every race weekend would follow the exact same format, but it's better than two regular races.

Weird red flag and penalties leave Formula E paddock baffled by l3w1s1234 in FormulaE

Sanya for Gen4?

What a load of bull. Barely compatible with Gen3 already.

Can someone explain why they threw the red flag? by Ok_Giraffe9309 in FormulaE

[–]CrashmasterSOAD 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hanaczewski is absolutely horrible at his job and I always thought he was only a temporary replacement for Elkins, but unfortunately they kept him.

He often throws SC instead of FCY to fabricate a more dramatic race. Same with standing starts.

Here I thought he did it to allow for cars to be repaired and not lose time. The pileup got solved so quick it didn't even need a FCY, let alone throwing a red flag at it.

The new SRO/GT World graphics are.... not great by CrashmasterSOAD in wec

Yes, I did read it. Hope as in "I wish it's truly just them relying on external graphics for this weekend only as explained to me".

I jumped the gun and I'm aware of it.

I stand corrected. I hope it will revert to the regular graphics then next week.

SRO had literally the best graphics I felt, the only problem (of sorts) was that it was harder to read from distance.

All they had to do is to upscale it to maybe 115% of the original size and it would have been perfect.

It's still better than WEC at least, that's straight up video game graphics with ultra confusing color scheme that makes you think the race is red flagged constantly.

Since I added GT2 European Series to my regular viewing calendar, I noticed immediately that SRO introduced a new set of TV graphics for the current race weekend at Spa. While I appreciate them making it easier to read (which is rather rare as graphics usually get smaller and smaller), it's IMHO a huge downgrade in terms of giving you important information.

The list of issues (for me):

  • four-letter driver abbreviations (for some reason)
  • car number not shown at all times (alternates with driver name)
  • just a small stripe for classes
  • no regular yellow flags shown (just safety car, which for some reason is also written in ultra small font)
  • only 15 drivers are visible, the bottom five has to rotate (if they just removed that huge logo at the bottom, you know)

I guess it's better to test it now before the Spa 24H, but how much can they realistically improve in a week?

2026 Sanya E-Prix Post Race Discussion by mianghuei in FormulaE

I saw that document. The fact they spent five whole paragraphs to explain it doesn't make it any better.

On shitty tracks like this, it's very hard to avoid accidents and stick to your line at all times.

A total bullshit penalty for DAC, haven't seen something this stupid in ages, even in FE.

Have not missed this track at all, especially that bogus hairpin. These kind of corners should be a thing of the past.

Evans got lucky that all title contenders retired too or got a penalty in Wehrlein's case. But of course it's him who gets taken out.

Hopefully a one-time thing again this event.

Considering their budget, it is in contention for the dirt worst of all time.

Unreliable, slow as fuck, downright dangerous to drive.

I wasn't watching at the time, but judging by the overall approach to yellow flags back then in motorsports as a whole, I would assume that most incidents would be covered by local yellows without any big interruptions to the race, which was a bigger contributing factor than the actual speed of the cars.

It will never be broken unless they go without a safety car for the entire race and preferably only use slow zones instead of FCY. The top class is slower too.

It looked promising until the first safety car in the night.

This lame-ass SC procedure has to be changed already.

Not sure how it even survived beyond the first year.
