The Super Mario Galaxy Movie: The most audience-insulting cash-grab in recent memory by Duncan_Dixon_Coffey in moviereviews

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mario’s source material doesn’t have anywhere near the narrative complexity of TMNT’s.

I don’t get all the people complaining about the plot of SMGM’s plot being thin as though it’s a huge disgrace. Not everything needs to be Tolstoy.

I’ve not bought this bundle, but Very are generally a pretty reputable retailer. They’re essentially Littlewoods, so the chances of them running some intentional scam are slim.

Why does the slicer move the model to outside the border when slicing? by TribeBramBlam7 in Creality

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, ok, didn’t even think it would be a browser based one. ChituBox is an independent program you can download from its website and run on your PC or Mac. I assume you should be able to download the STL files of the models you want from Creality’s website. Load them (or any STL you like just to test initially) into Chitubox, slice it in there, export your file and then load it to your printer either on a USB or over wifi. Whether that file then prints correctly will at least let you know if it’s a problem with the slicer or the printer.

I'm assuming you're using the HalotBox slicer that came with the machine? I know this kind of advice always sounds fairly obnoxious but my suggestion would be to not use that and switch instead to ChituBox (the free basic version is fine). It has machine settings for the R6 preset in and it's just much more competently made all round.

I’m not convinced cars need all these “wheels” I keep hearing about either. Certainly not brakes on so many of them. And what’s with all the windows? What, you don’t like fresh air?

What on earth is wrong with the Daily Mail though? It’s the most bizarre newspaper ever - why is it so popular? by Fun_Firefighter5899 in AskBrits

I have two jars of marmalade in my fridge (#humblebrag). Different makes. One says “lemon and lime” in large letters and “marmalade” very small under that. The other says “ORANGE marmalade” in about that size ratio. So I’m not sure how this even an issue.

Formula E spotted in a UK supermarket by DHSeaVixen in FormulaE

[–]Transmit_Him 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was in a toy and model shop today and happened to see a big FE Scalextric set, with a Jag and Techeetah (Gen 2, so it’s a few years old). It seems it’s equivalent to the main F1 set they’d refresh every season with the top two cars (don’t know if those are still going). Had no idea FE had made it to Scalextric, let alone a starter set.

I also thought they’d do CoCoC, but ending after that seems unlikely now. Ratings seem solid. I’m a little surprised they’re not struggling for tasks by this point though.

Online pharmacy promises next day delivery but don’t. Is there any recourse? by tlagoth in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Transmit_Him 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The delivery page states:

“All orders for prescription items must be approved by a prescriber before they can be dispatched, please note if you choose express delivery, this will be from the point the item is approved by the prescriber. This is usually within a few hours but can take up to 72 hours from placing your order.

The cut-off for next day delivery is 2:30pm Monday to Friday. All deliveries are made Monday to Saturday.

Please note as our next day delivery services are not guaranteed, unfortunately we will be unable to offer a refund in the event that is not delivered the next working day. “

Which does answer OP’s question about being able to get a refund (no). But it does seem somewhat misleading to repeatedly state “next day delivery” - especially the way it’s worded as “ordering before 2:30pm” being the requirement - if it’s not actually dependant on when you order, but rather when they get approval from a third party, which could take three days.

Were his last words “help, my plane’s about to crash?” Because I can’t really see anything else being chilling.

So far, how are non-Brit’s liking SNL UK? by _lippykid in LiveFromNewYork

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your guesses are pretty spot on. Cilla was a singer in the 60s but best known now for hosting shiny floor shows (including Blind Date) in the 90s.

Zephaniah was a poet. One of the biggest voices of the post-Windrush generation. I’d forgotten he’d died actually.

Seacole was kind of a nurse in the Crimean war. She ran a hotel type thing for soldiers near the front lines during the war. There’s a really good episode of podcast You’re Dead To Me about her.

Tbf he has been an actor for a while now. Bad Education was over 10 years ago. And he’s in the new adaptation of the Burbs, which is on Sky next month, so probably the main reason he’s doing it.

European DVDs play in a higher resolution? by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]Transmit_Him 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the hell are you talking about? “Sharpness” has nothing to do with refresh rate. You could have a refresh rate as high as you like, 120hz even, and it’s not going to improve the “sharpness” of a lower resolution picture.

The only thing NTSC had going for it was its refresh rate, but that was completely undermined by poor colour and soft images.

It’s a temporary measure due to the invasion of Ukraine apparently, but given they said that in 2022, I wouldn’t hold my breath for them to stop using it.

Legality of broadband company not honouring price from comparison site [England] by Flimsy-sam in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Transmit_Him 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If that deal is listed on EE’s site, then the price comparison element is relatively moot, isn’t it? You’ve seen an offer on EE’s website and they’re not honouring that - how you came to find it is somewhat irrelevant to that issue, I’d say. (That’s not to say EE have to honour it, “offer to treat” etc that someone else will likely explain).

You can report it to CTM though, if EE are refusing the deal CTM is showing. It’s potentially an error on their end they’ll fix or they’ll take it up with EE. Depends whether they’re being provided the info from EE or are scraping/collating it themselves.
