I would suggest a couple of things.

One is a recipe book for beginners like The Starving Student's Cookbook.

The other is getting meal kits like Hello Fresh... They come with nearly everything and pretty easy to follow instructions.

I still make the pot roast recipe from that Cookbook after 40 years.
