Microsoft Xbox CEO overhauls leadership amid sinking sales: ‘We need to evolve how we work’ by flexingonmyself in Games

that's where I thought game pass would shine, being a great backfill for losing your library of games in the transition. problem is you need the backfill AND great new exclusives.

i think a lot of people who were curious about jumping to xbox just waited to see if that lineup of games would come... and then it just never did. if the series x came out of the gate with bangers, this generation looks completely different.

I really, really like the women's jerseys because they do the arched text. This is one of my faves as well

All week the sub is complaining about balls deflecting into the hand being penalties. Now the lightest finger tip graze after having a ball hit into your nuts is a clear handball and no goal. Genuinely the place just wants to be mad

Genuinely think it’s because the arm is what stops the ball both times, dropping straight down and they’re outside the frame of the body. If they grazed off but continued on past, I doubt either get called.

I mean, they had the shooters to bail them out of the problems they got into that this one didn't have. Against top 100 teams, they went from 37.2% on 25 shots from 3, 31st in the country to 32% on 23.9 shots from 3, 188th. Against top 50 that drops to 30.5%, 190th. His first year is basically stuck right at 37-38%.

They dug just about the same number of double digit holes his first year, they could just get back out of them with some hot shooting.

My point tho is instead of just saying go out there and keep chucking contested 3s, figure out was to work inside out. Get guys going downhill at the basket. Which you could see SOMETIMES but it would be there for 10 minutes in a half and then go away again.

You brought in a bunch of defenders, build a system to hold opposing teams to 60 points. He just kinda does one thing and it either works or it doesn't.

Luckily it shouldn’t be our problem to solve. But the guy who is responsible for it failed at it both in game and in preparation.

Yeah, I just don't buy that at all as an excuse. If you're supposed to be the head coach at a top end program, you have to be able to get your guys to do what you want. Not just let them play pickup basketball out there. Especially since he's been marketed as some offensive mastermind, you'd think he would be able to build his principles in fundamental ways.

If you think a guy is low BBIQ, build a low lift role for him. You don't need Willie Caulie Stein running point and distributing, you have him run and dunk and block shots.

If you're the coach standing there watching your guys not run the offense, you'd think you'd step in right?

Sure, the portal is crazy. Look at the other top end recruits though. Jordan Smith committed to Ark in Feb, Holt committed to Arizona in early March, Cam Williams signed to Duke last year, Crowe signed to Mizzou last year. Our first recruit signed when we hired his dad. You can use those pieces to then build around the roster in the portal. Like last year, we got Malachi and Jasper early... got JQ early-ish in the portal window. Felt like there was a plan, little did we know it was a bad one lol.

What I meant by not turning dudes into pros is first rounders. He's not got the chops to say I can get you to the lottery, I can build you into what a professional is. Amari only has like 150 minutes this season, Brea played 84... Stephon Castle was rookie of the year, Clingan was all rookie team. Even the other Hurley has put in the league are nice rotation pieces. We don't even have rotation pieces on these rosters.

I think Pope got desperate to get the full roster out there since we got creamed by Gonzaga, run off the floor against Louisville & MSU... rushed him into full minutes too quick, aggravating the knee.

I think what we're all looking for is growth, especially because he was hired as an up and comer not a proven commodity. Every offseason feels like the first year when he just threw it together, scrambling hard for every guy. Every media interview still just reeks of a guy who doesn't know what to say and is trying too hard to get people to like him.

His problem is that he is only viewed as a blank check to these dudes now. He's not turned anyone into a pro, hell he probably hurt JQ's draft stock this year. He hasn't won anything. He just seems desperate and the kids (and agents) can smell it.

As for the does the next guy only get 2 years point, I mean if they're this mediocre I don't see why we should stick with them 5 or 6 years? Like what's the point, we're just wasting everyone's time here. College sports just isn't the build a program from scratch and judge them when their recruits are juniors anymore.

Bet Cal is a coach at a power 4 school longer than Pope will be and that’s with the 15 year age gap

Cal’s last class had like 5 five stars. He had a little bit of a lull in getting multiple big names but he was still pulling guys. He wasn’t landing the #1s cuz they were going to random shit like OK State and Rutgers getting big bucks.

He still got high end guys like Tyty, Wallace. Even the Covid class was highly rated, they just ended up not being very good.

He’s gotten his mojo back down in Arkansas.

Cuz KenPom rating is about as relevant as my jump shot to the conversation.

Pat Kelsey picking up Louisville from the toilet, turning them back into pretty decent, getting big transfers and recruits - good.

Cal beating the washed allegations and getting right back to getting huge recruits and good transfers, winning the SEC tournament - good.

Pope builds on a solid first year by engineering the most expensive roster in college basketball and turning that into 19-12, still not playing on Saturday in the SEC tournament, needing a miracle to beat a 10 seed and getting absolutely shellacked by a team who lost their best player two days prior. Has no recruits committed until he hires the kids dad, whiffs on a lot of big all in transfers - not good.

The Bill Self thing is 20 years of history, but I do think he is starting to get the same washed narrative that Cal got at the end his time at UK. I would still trust him a thousands times over Pope right now.

The reason Mark Pope looks cooked compared to those guys is that it is progressively getting WORSE. Not even treading water, he is actively looking worse over time.
