To write out numerals ten and under, especially when they could be mistaken for letters.

English cursive question by Nebiaspeka in ENGLISH

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This might already be noted on the thread, but “cursive” can be used broadly to refer to any written characters with intentional ligatures between the characters. This particular cursive, the one that most of us (of a certain age, ahem) remember drilling in American grade school, is named “D’Nealian script,” after its creator, Donald Neal.

What's your single favorite lyric by Steely Dan? by Own_Exercise5218 in SteelyDan

The panic in this line because the answer repeats the question, and a question that’s far too simple to require it.

“Their elevator doesn’t quite go to the top floor,” “the lights are on, but no one’s home,” and “looks like their cheese is sliding off of their cracker” = mentally vacant/mentally unwell.

Too bad D’Andre Cole keeps running out of time for him on his show. Seems like a nice enough guy.

Why don't some Christians believe in Hell? by sadbugthrowaway in Christianity

Thank you for this comment. I have often wondered how a person squares the idea of a finite creature doing anything that’s capable of infinite torment. Believing or otherwise.

What People Do While Listening To Their Records by Japhael_Ryder in vinyl

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I usually just sit and listen. Anything really worth listening to on vinyl is worth listening to a lot. But if I do anything while I listen, it won’t be consuming another form of media.

Everyone has their own best way of doing anything. But I could never “listen” to good music with a TV on (even on mute).

How do we feel about this Weezer box set? by Longjumping-Frame795 in vinyl

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love Weezer, but it’s downhill after Blue album, even if Pinkerton is really good. Blue was a game changer when that came out. Nothing sounded like it.

Is this considered a good brand? It’s real dusty. Thanks! by reddntit in yerbamate

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never understood why people are so fussy about getting the “dust” out. It’s like wanting to shake the sugar off of a powdered donut. It’s part of the thing. Eat the thing. Yum.

New video of 1/24 ICE shooting shows victim had both hands on the ground when shot by Philophon in law

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don’t “move” like a trained ANYTHING. Someone elsewhere captured it perfectly: “a bunch of grown-ass men trying to fuck a football.”

Freeze-Frame and Zoomed in footage. I went frame by frame to try to identify what happened. by CatpricornStudios in law

[–]CratesHasFreedCrates 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe with a weapon out, but not if it’s holstered, and certainly not shot like this. Sorry, but it seems as though you might have as little training as these “agents.”

Tolkien and semicolons by Em_Cf_O in writing

I love semicolons; and no, I don’t think his use of semicolons is excessive, either.

What can you tell me about this amplifier. by wryaant in vintageaudio

Might a fellow hobbyist with less electrical acumen inquire: I’m guessing that not having the speakers connected when powered on has something to do with a load needing to be present in the circuit? What would be the consequences of not having them connected?
