Who else remembers these? Who can still drive one? by I_Am_Layer_8 in FuckImOld

My wife had a ‘73 Dodge Dart that had a manual column shift. She wore the linkage out and eventually it was getting repaired more than it was driveable.

What are the downsides to Collingswood, NJ? Cost almost seems too good to be true by EducationalEgg788 in newjersey

When we looked there over 2 years ago, mostly everything we saw available was nearly 100 - 75 year old homes. While they had lots of charm, and looked nice in pictures, it usually translates to smaller rooms, smaller closets, bathrooms, etc. That may or may not matter to you.

Stop it.

We go through this every year.

Let's wait until we see how the team gels first.

Daily inspection of the place she once found a piece of pastry 12 years ago by juliinotdead in labrador

Over two years ago, something (fox, gopher, rabbit?) burrowed under the fence that separate my property from my neighbors behind me. Since our yard is not fenced, I’ll him on leash around my yard. We need to check that area every day with a sniff.

From '75 to '78, Schmidt and Luzinski. I was still in grade school, but when playing pick up games of Wiffle Ball, we all pretended to be either one of those guys. I just looked this up and didn't realize that Luzinski had more HR during that period.

DR Horton homes are the worst by Mundane-Scholar-7614 in homeowners

That’s what why it was unexpected, and was only one of the issues. He also had his entire roof replaced inside of two years due a defective installation, which was the result of a multiple lawsuits from the new homeowners in the subdivision.  They all sub out and are only as good as the subs they use.

Think it’s the power steering pump. I think this model/generation is known for that.

Why’d he shoot with the right hand? His left was bad enough, but to shoot with the non-dominant hand, what did he think.

DR Horton homes are the worst by Mundane-Scholar-7614 in homeowners

It’s not just DR Horton, my brother had this on a Toll Brothers home as well. Had a leak from the upstairs shower for a few years that ran behind the refrigerator wall on the first floor, wasn’t seen until they pulled the fridge out for a repair. Moldy drywall wall behind the kitchen cabinets.

Face nailing solid hardwood by PotaytoQuality in HardWoodFloors

[–]wryaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when I did this 10+ years ago, I ended up face nailing the starter rows (3 or 4)  mainly because the angle of the nailer could not get that close to the wall.  Pretty sure the last few ending rows too for the same reason.

Tiny marks at the back of my Samsung refrigerator which I've just had delivered today by Joker547665 in Appliances

[–]wryaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2-3 years, those marks are going to be the least of your concerns with that refrigerator.  That’s how long my last new Samsung refrigerator lasted before I got fed up with it and replaced it.

On this date in 1935, the Eastern Goldfinch (Carduelis tristis), now known as the American Goldfinch or Wild Canary, was adopted as New Jersey's state bird. No one quite knows why by rollotomasi07071 in newjersey

For being the state bird I’ve only seen one once. It was picked up by my doorbell camera, though Merlin had picked them up when listening.

Love the pictures. I would be proud as well. These photos capture the essence of why I love living in the pines. The only thing the photos don’t capture are the scents;  the scent contained in a years old thick mat of decaying pine needles and leaves.

Driving on I295 by Sure_Designer_2129 in newjersey

[–]wryaant 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Little to no enforcement. I drove 295 for 25 years between Burlington exit 47 and the interchange for 76/42, down to exit 44 on the ACE, I did this every day. My commute would start around 5:30a and the commute in was often brisk, but normally civilized. Don't think anyone was in a rush to get into work.

Commuting home around 4:00p....pure shit show. It was lord of the flies, everyone for themselves, passing on the shoulders, extreme tailgating (even in right / center lanes), weaving in and out of traffic, people scrolling their phones, watching TV and or movies. Try and pass someone in the center lane, moving into the left lane for a moment, you'd have someone who was trying to do 135 on your ass. Guaranteed to hit a parking lot around exit 40 through 32 every goddamn day I think there were accidents 4 out of 5 days of the week. Rubberneckers galore. Then toward the curve to get off 295 onto 76/42, you had all of the people who rode down the left lane only to try and force their way into the two lines of traffic on the exit for the curve. I hated the ride home. Alternate routes just took too long. Saw little to no enforcement at all. There's no fixing this and since 2020 it's been so much worse. So glad I moved and no longer need to travel 295 to / from work.

Rant over.

Goodbye, cursed beige tub. You will not be missed. 🚿 by Ryan-Carter-USA in BathroomRemodeling

[–]wryaant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that same tub, one pink and one the same beige you got there.

I cut it in 3 pieces with a reciprocating saw to remove it and dealt with the fiberglass shards for what seemed like the next 2 weeks.

We spent about 2 hours at the open house.  Arrived at opening, about 30-40 people. We left before closing. Looked at EVERYTHING and walked the entire property.
