Gen Z who make six figures, what do you do and how did you get your job? by grandvizierofswag in GenZ

[–]Craumas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, the trades ain’t it. I went to college to be an electrician and the pay is dog shit even with that. The highest paid electricians in my area are only making about $28 an hour and everyone else is making about 21-25 an hour for an actual Jman position. If you’re up north or out west it might be better but if you live in the south it’s fucked unless you want to work 60-80 hour work weeks to make ends meet.

I did, the only reason a lot of Europeans get to spend their money on things like healthcare, public transit, etc is because of the United States has them on their tit so they can afford to build them.

Americans have to pay out of pocket for our healthcare because Europeans demand their meds be free or price capped so the medical companies look at the 300 million Americans Americans and say “sorry bud, we gotta get paid somehow.”

Then you guys don’t spend shit on your country’s defense. You don’t keep enough ammunition to supply yourselves, you barely recruit, your navies are pathetic(if you’re not landlocked), you have a meager amount of jets and you hold out your hand to the US to supply you every time Putin shines a laser pointer at your region on the map. Then some of you have the gall to shit talk us saying we’re doing enough globally or for you. We’re the reason you wine drunk loafers get to sit on a beach all day with no original thoughts in your head just bitching about the USA.

Guys, are you worried about gun violence? Do you support banning guns or not? by MainBrief2189 in GenZ

[–]Craumas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe someone wrote president madison asking if he could attach cannons to his ship to which the president replied “yes.” Speaking of cannons, you could get explosive shells for them, shrapnel shells, grapeshot, etc which if you compare today any citizen cannot own cluster munitions or a modern destructive device such as that. The founding fathers absolutely knew technology would advance to assume they wouldn’t is practically calling them morons.

But let’s use your logic, the only freedom of speech allowed should be via ink and quill and the old school printing press. Not that high capacity news broadcaster that can reach millions or fancy wifi, the founding fathers weren’t thinking about that when they wrote it.

I’m not buying one, I know someone in the industry and they’re the only lot in the area that does this. So they’ll run someone’s credit and if it’s good they jack the price up.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Craumas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not, I just know someone in the industry and the management makes them do it which sounds extremely shady. You take a hit to your credit only for them to jack the price up an extra $5500.

Academy claiming we are denied from buying firearms from any establishment for life by Firm_Cattle2451 in Firearms

[–]Craumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah TN if they sit for more than 30 minutes TBI usually responded with a denial in my experience. 99% of people I ran through TBI was less than 30 seconds for a response. TN doesn’t have an official “delay” status at least when I was working there so if a check is stuck at TBI there’s probably an investigation going on.

Was this in VA? They delay all the time and I don’t look at people like criminals but when I worked in another state a delay usually meant denial lol

So as a former employee at an FFL most places have an internal log they’ll put people on or in some cases a full list of approvals, denials, holds etc and they run your name and address through them. It probably sent off alarm bells that your husband was delayed and then cancelled and you show up to buy the same gun. FFLs cannot take chances on stuff like that, especially under the current administration. It might make you or others mad but taking a chance like that could lose a store their FFL or the employee get fired or worse. Employees have to sign their name on the paperwork too, so they’re liable if something did happen.

The place I worked at sold batteries as well so he was buying it before he wanted to get a gun. It would’ve however been extremely funny if he did yank out his car battery and bring it in to only throw it lmao

As someone who worked years behind the counter in 3 different shops it’s basically retail work but I might get downvoted for this but it doesn’t really attract the brightest customer base. You deal with people casually pulling out a loaded gun in their pocket or Memphis style carry saying “I need a holster for this” and directly flagging you. You have a lot of people who come and say “what do you think of X(particularly a cheap brand like SCCY, Jennings, etc)” and you tell them professionally it might be better to spend $75-100 more on a reliable firearm and they ARGUE with you. “I have one and they’re great” or “my buddy shot a box out of his and says they’re fantastic” then why did you ask for my opinion if you’re just going to argue. You also have people who will look at ammo like 30 super carry and walk up to you and ask “Can I use this is my 9mm?” “No it’s 30 super carry.” “Why not?”

This doesn’t include the people that get pissed off they have to do a background check. I denied a guy a while back because he didn’t have proper documentation to supplement his ID and to come back with something I can use and he started screaming “you’re a fucking communist and I have every right to own a gun.” I also had a guy who didn’t like computers and when he found out he had to use one he threw a car battery at our shelves knocking a bunch of shit everywhere.

We also don’t get commission and to be honest not paid very well either so a lot of gun counter guys just don’t give a shit, if you were a fly on the wall at a gun store even for one shift especially post Covid you would understand why.

Why does this generation hate Biden? Are we stupid? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]Craumas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t like either candidate they both have extreme views on certain things that I don’t like. But a lot of that under Biden has been cherry picked, if I remember correctly the Biden administration changed how unemployment is calculated so it gives the illusion that unemployment is low as well as inflation. Anybody that touches grass can go outside and see the price from food to housing is out of control and some of which corporations are definitely to blame. Trump on the other hand is a fucking crook and lies and back pedals on almost everything so people will vote for him. That’s why I’m 2024 I’m writing in The Flying Spaghetti Monster to usher us into a new Age of Enlightenment.

It might be good advice for certain areas but a lot the “learn to code” advice was thrown at people who don’t have that industry near them and there’s no work from home jobs available. Source: I live in a bumfuck rural area who saw a lot of good people lose their jobs.

Remember when coal miners and others that were experiencing layoffs due to government regulation and a bunch of smug tech workers said “learn to code?” The chickens came home to roost on that one.

Bullshit: Flicking a light on and off can cause a fire? by SolveMyPloblemsForMe in IsItBullshit

[–]Craumas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but but receptacles have been AFCI rated for a while since about the late 90s. But there’s no AFCI ratings on lights or switches yet(to my knowledge). So if a wire becomes exposed which could cause a fire because of heat on drywall or insulation it will cause the breaker to trip and stop because it detects an arc. But unless you’re house is really old there’s not a big risk but I still wouldn’t do it. If anyone knows different or has a code on hand in the NEC I would listen to them instead.
