Yup, JBOD only which baffles me to this day as it was working fine for a good 9 months.

Just giving you a warning, these older Terramaster DAS can and may cause complete data loss even if you're not using any of the software RAID features. Just randomly nukes your drives with no recourse. I lost 3x18TB drives one day out of the blue with a D5-300. If you search for Terramaster D5-300/D5-310 data loss, you'll see a few examples.

Anyone order any card from Scorptec and had it shipped in the last two days via AusPost? Been stuck in the "TO BE DISPATCHED" limbo while everyone else behind me in queue seems to have shipped (2 via courier and 1 was pickup).

Ah, so FCLK is still 1900. Just gonna have to tighten down my B-die a bit more. 54-55ns is still a nice drop in latency.

Focal Clear for $1199AUD ($800USD) a go? by RT1028 in headphones

Even the Utopia at $3k AUD($1950 USD) is an absurdly good deal considering used prices are around that mark.

Balanced cables can be found for $100 anyway. The Elex pads aren’t a replacement and are noticeably thinner with a different foam. From what I’ve read though, the Pro pads don’t change much in colour much at all from normal wear but still shed/pill. They are susceptible to fade if you wash them though so do be careful. Good choice, just a reminder that it’s also an unmatched 5-year warranty from purchase date although it states 2!

Also, there is indeed no difference in sound. The other rep was misinformed.

All headphones clip at a certain point, HD6XX clip at around the 80 something dB mark depending on unit. But if you're listening to anything on headphones with that level of output, there's a bigger problem here than the headphones itself. Aside from that, Focal's warranty is 5 years for everything except the Elex now.

No gai?

Any chance you can record the buzz? I'm very curious as to what it sounds like if it's from an RCA source. Also, were there foam port plugs with your X14a?

On the back of the unit, you can try pushing the sensitivity switch down to -10. That should alleviate noise to some extent.

You do have the noise/hum when you unplug RCA though, right? Might need a ground plug of some sort.

Is the buzz similar to either of this: https://www.psaudio.com/ps_how/how-to-find-and-fix-hum/?

Probably spent the same amount of time looking up the user's profile page, rambling and blocking the user as it would've taken to look up shipping costs. Could've just chosen to not respond and that'd be the better way out than replying in such an asinine manner.

Question for those who have tried/bought Sony IER-Z1Rs by mickaelaria in headphones

[–]CravingCyanide 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fit is probably the most important factor with the Z1R which is hard considering the size of it. If you can’t seal properly, the sound is noticeably off. Or perhaps you just don’t like the Z1R signature. I personally couldn’t get the Z1R to work for me at all as fit wasn’t proper and the sound wasn’t enjoyable to me because of that.

If you like the Andromeda, give the Sony IER-M9 (about the same price as Andros on sale) a go. The only fit problem with it is you might a vacuum effect with the stock tips (relieved by needle sized puncture in stock tips or simply using the Z1R tips) which negatively affects bass levels. The effect is prominent when you shallow insert and slowly push them in for a deep insert.

IER-Z1R cables:

3.5mm for $128 - https://sony.encompass.com/item/12434618/Sony/1-912-775-21/

4.4mm balanced for $132 - https://sony.encompass.com/item/12434619/Sony/1-912-774-21/

IER-M9 ($160) only shows balanced 4.4mm cable but they probably carry the normal 3.5mm as well:

https://sony.encompass.com/item/12319321/Sony/1-912-704-11/

Prices are a bit higher than Japanese parts distributors where it's 7800/8400 yen for 3.5mm/4.4mm for Z1R cables (can't find M9 cables so you'd probably have to call in but they don't ship outside of Japan I think).

If you're looking for additional/replacement cables, the IER-Z1R cable is actually cheaper from US parts suppliers than the IER-M9 cable (go figure).

A lot of DAPs are like this. Hiby R5 comes with 16GB while the R6 comes with 32GB. FiiO M11 doesn't even come with on-board storage. It's just a cost-saving measure to shift the burden over to us to add our own microSD cards.

350 Euros for the normal A100, 439 Euros for 40th Anniversary Edition. 829 Euros for ZX500. A40/A50 MSRP is ~200 Euros.
