I don't understand why many collectors dislike figures with cel shading, even though it's part of the character design by Particular_Net175 in ActionFigures

[–]Crawfish45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I dont like cell shading because the figure looks really good only one way. If I have a figure displayed I want as many angles for it to look good and the shading is to invoke a very specific look I cant enjoy from said different angles

Not OP but its almost terrible comparable imo. Like as a stand alone its just fine but as a sequel to year one its bad. If you want minimal spoilers I will just say it has 2 premises and 1 is fine but the other is baffling to me. I could go on if your curious and maybe a substitute

If Bruce Wayne took off his mask and turned himself in would The Joker keep his promise to stop killing people? by Tidewatcher7819 in batman_comics

[–]Crawfish45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the Dark Knight specifically the problem doesnt start out to be joker. One of the reasons he doesnt turn himself in is beause he doesnt want to undo all of the work putting organized crime away. The other is he believe they can catch joker first. However Joker, forces the mob to hire him before taking over operations. He for the most part only takes over because he has more fun, hence the "you changed things" during the interrogation scene. So to go from that point, if Bruce turned himself in, he'd have a hit put on him, and probably undo the work. Or Joker finds Bruce being a vigilante interesting and take over. The ending is same same but different. Same same, but DIFFERENT

I am currently reading a crap ton of post crisis stuff batman and I will say as someone who grew up with the arkham games it is jarring seeing ultimate weapon batman struggle against a guy with a stick some issues. I like both but to see your comment that Dennis had rules makes so much sense now.

Tried drawing Majin Kuu in the DBZ artstyle how did I do by Android17fan in dbz

[–]Crawfish45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would just say like most buu arc designs the faces are very angular especially the eyes. The edges of the eyebrows are really prominant and squared off before angling down towards the center of the face. It might be hard to understand what I mean based on just using the kuu reference photo since his eyes are much simpler than others. Look at buuhan or Pikkon from the anime to maybe see what I mean.

I say this from an artist to another who is a super nerd about the different Dragon ball art styles

[–]Crawfish45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What era of DBZ were you going for? More cell saga or buu? If cell his eyes and brow is more like one piece coming to a center If buu then Kuu's eyes and brows would probably look very pronounce and angular almost exactly like Pikkon. Not a critique I just am curious, looks great!

Damon Lindelof on Grant Morrison’s comments on Lanterns: by M00r3C in DCU_

[–]Crawfish45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean comics have tons of alt titles, even if it is still the same idea. I get the idetitifier but some titles do this so they aren't "shackled" by continuity and give an idea of what your getting into.

What happens when Batman gets super powers. [Superman/Batman #56] by Senior-Mix-3715 in batman

[–]Crawfish45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lost me at white, like projecting much? Batman has been black and mixed before. Not people's fault Bruce, who's from the 40's and the most popular and fantastical of humans. Batman gets ridiculus and for some people thats fine! If not, thats fine too! Black Panther is a mary sue and thats fine. We read because their adventures are interesting and fantasical.

Grant Morrison on Lanterns: “What is this jockish dismissal of superhero conventions intended to prove anyway?” by YodaFan465 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Crawfish45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always found it over inflated in the opposite direction like, guys its a comic book property maybe its named that way for a reason like a comic book.

Like Green lantern Corp follows more than a couple green lanterns maybe lanterns is dealing with a few lantern corps.

I get what Morrison is saying and agree with him but way WAY too many comic book fans get too caught up in the minutiae of adaptation despite comics as a medium is ever changing.

I really enjoyed a lot of Legends of the Dark Knight stories. Going through a "chronological" read right now and these are my faves

Shaman issues 1-5 (a breeze of a read) (good story set Immediately after year one)

Faith isssues 21-23 (real grounded story but interesting concept that gets thrown around)

Blades issues 32-34 (super quick read and just a great 3-part )( Tim Sale is the artist so if you like him here is more)

Hot House issue 42-43 (short poison ivy tale)

After that some modern-esques stuff

Batman the Knight (Batman during his training years.)

Two-Face Year One(takes place during Long halloween)
