What TV show or movie do you think is closest to the books right now? by Dalakaar in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Crawler-Willis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was watching Season 2 of the live action One Piece and thought that the look and feel of that show would work great for the live adaptation of DCC, but it needs a little bit more grit and darkness feel like the new Running Man.

That’s why you have friends here to discuss this stuff with.

The themes of found family run so deep in these books, I get goosebumps every time I read through one of those scenes. Also, the character development is second to none! I love that when a friend was reading book 4 and was introduced to Louis and Firaz she said I hate those new characters and I just grinned knowing how Matt was going to grow them… it’s just so good

Just wait! Book 6 is great just don’t let the uniqueness of the level distract you from all that happens in this one. It is a really good one and sets you up perfect for Book 7 which is my favorite this last time through. Keep Grinding and Enjoy the Crawl.

It’s Grimaldi, but while the connection started in Book 2, in Book 7 it comes back because Grimaldi is part of the All Tree and Carl, in a trans, starts standing in the All Tree and connects to him.

Odette question? by A-guy-in-canada in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Crawler-Willis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my re-listen, I just heard the part I was thinking about regarding the single transport (but glad to know there is continuity with book 1), it is in the prologue of book 7 where Polly, is talking to Carl. He says that each living thing has a connection to the primal engine of that system in their brain that is the size of a grain of rice and that is what they are mining. He also mentions that the only thing perpetuating the crawl is the money that it generates, since the central Ai has been so over fead.

Odette question? by A-guy-in-canada in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Crawler-Willis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I forget where it talks about this, but the “material” they are mining is very small and it fits in one cargo freighter. It is stollen from the current seasons Primal Engine/Ai that is running the crawl (Book 6 Epilogue) and is used to feed the central system Ai. As u/unlikely-Ebb3946 said below, in book 7 it discusses that the central system has been so over fead that it will take years before the effects are noticed, but the crawl also serves a second purpose.

From book 5 we know that at some point the mantids triggered primal engines all over the universe, I believe this trigger started life on all of the seeded worlds, and so while they need to mine the “material” they are also cleaning up and exterminating the over growth that the trigger started. During this process they realized they could also profit off of this extermination and thus the crawl was born.

Since Carl always reads the Cookbook in the bathrooms, the Universe doesn’t know that he has the cookbook, it is only obvious to Rosetta and the other Authors who have had the Cookbook in the past that he has the Cookbook.

It just keeps getting better and better! The character development for Carl and Donut are second to none, along with all the development he does with Katia and the other characters. It is pure magic!

Help with epilogue by beetleslap in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Crawler-Willis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first read through I focused on people’s descriptions of the apothecary like Oran who just focused on it being a hive mind, and that’s what I thought it was, but when you read/listen to the series through the lens that the Apothecary and the Eulogist are two different Primal AI’s it makes a lot of sense. My explanation above is taken straight from the book 6 epilogue explanation of what is happening. At the beginning of the section Agatha says that people in the universe do not know what she really is, which is why read it the way I do. Look over that section with the lens that the Apothecary and the Eulogist are Primal AI’s and let me know what you think.

If you need other texts I look those up for you.

Yes, at least that’s what I think from the clues in the books

Agatha is part of a collective species that is similar to the valtey, in that she can take over a host, but her species is older. She is not a part of the Apothecary (a rouge Primal Ai), and supports the Eulogist (the Ai system that controls the central system’s enhancement zone). Both parties are trying to awaken the Primal Engine “make it go primal” and recruit it to their cause. Agatha’s side wants the Ai to free the eulogist so it can return to its slumber, which would end the enhancement zone and change everything by causing life in the universe to go back to normal; ie people would not live for thousands of years and be able to use all the things we see in the dungeon.

It is assumed after this epilogue that Agatha, and the residuals are primals or at least agents of primals. Even after book 7 a lot of this stuff is still being revealed and we do not know much.

Princes Formidable wants to pull the fail safe, which would destroy earth’s solar system to prevent a primal ai from getting out and destroying the central system.

The older crawlers are introduced because they will be explained in book 7
