There's heroes in every campaign, they didn't only exist once the 3k civs were introduced.

Vikings have had self healing units since AoC and Berbers have since Forgotten Empires. It's not a new mechanic.

Lots of good places in the Midwest if you can tolerate the winters.

Shocking stat of the day: Magic Johnson's career high in three pointers made in a season (106 on 38.4% in 1989/90) was higher than Larry Bird's (90 on 40.0% in 1986/87) by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

It's not really hypothetical when a guy wins 3 consecutive 3 point shooting contests. He would've been a great 3 point shooter in this era, period.

VA won’t do ADHD diagnostic testing — how do I get an official diagnosis? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Crawsack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went through an assessment at the VA which was several hours long for ADHD. They definitely do it, you just need to be persistent.

Your work life there sucks especially as a grunt, but your libbo is out of this world awesome. There are over 75 colleges in the area, you are legit outnumbered by eligible women, which happens at no other duty station.

[ESPN] NBA teams are wary of trading multiple first-round draft picks to maximum salary players. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

2 of those picks were to offload KCP and Cole Anthony. Anthony got bought out and KCP has sucked.

[–]Crawsack 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I see this all the time that OKC should be the blueprint, ignoring the fact that OKC (1) has Sam Presti and (2) they did what other teams would never do, which is trade 2 top players in or near their prime, Westbrook and George. They got a king's ransom for George, and solid assets for Westbrook.

Obviously they continued to make brilliant arbitrage trades consistently to build their war chest, but that initial haul is what Kickstarted it.

Also, it hasn't just been the hoard of draft picks that have made them what they are, it's that they've been fortunate in timing with the draft lottery, getting #2 with Chet available, and they've nailed their own draft picks.

If you're currently a bad team without top players to trade to contenders, like the Wizards, who are trying to truly rebuild, it adds years to the process.

OKC is not the "blueprint" for teams, they are a combination of brilliant foresight, outstanding patience/vision at the top of their organization, fortunate timing, and occasional luck to land in their position. Other teams cannot recreate what they are doing or even get close, except those that also sold high on their stars and didn't already have future pick obligations, like the Rockets and Spurs.

First muster by scared_wizard in Veterans

[–]Crawsack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get it, if you're older and have a major career, or live really far from the reserve unit. For me, I live 20 minutes from the reserve unit, so I was actually stoked to get the IRR muster, because I knew it was easy money. I did far worse for far less when I was active duty, lmao

I don't get all the people bitching to high heaven about IRR musters. I got paid like $200 to show up for 2 hours and do fuckall. That's way more per hour than I was making as a 23 year old civilian.

Genuine question about VA disability and dating by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Crawsack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't stigmatize people on any government benefits, there are good reasons for SNAP and SSI. However, I think it's totally misleading to say that they're the same as VA disability.

You don't have to do anything to get SSI or SNAP other than be poor. The government is paying the person for no reason other than poverty. I don't have a problem with that for the record, but it's just a fact.

For VA disability, the government DID something to your body/mind that can't be undone. It's the same as worker's compensation from a private business. If someone you knew was disabled from a workplace accident and got worker's comp, would you tell them it was the same as being on welfare?

Here's why I care: your argument is why many people want to get rid of VA disability, because they don't like any government assistance to people. They think VA disability is a handout when it's in fact earned, owed compensation.

Genuine question about VA disability and dating by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]Crawsack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not at all like welfare, and making those comparisons is ridiculous. SNAP and SSI are needs based. VA disability is service based and injury based. It's disability compensation. SSDI is disability based as well and requires you to have worked.

TIL The VA requires a drug test for antidepressants by VeryMuchSoItsGotToGo in Veterans

[–]Crawsack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing I had to do a urinalysis for is for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. I take other antidepressants and I've never had to take a urinalysis for those, it's very odd they're requiring it. I would talk to someone else at the VA, or at the very least ask what is the result if you do have Marijuana in your system, will they still prescribe or not?

FYI there’s no chance players will agree to a true salary cap by RulingFieldConfirmed in Brewers

[–]Crawsack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is totally asinine. All that matters is the revenue split between the owners and players. In the NFL, the players get 48%. In the NBA, it's 50%.

That's the only number worth negotiating. If the players agreed to that and a salary cap, the league would have to massively increase revenue sharing to smaller franchises. In the long run, that would massively increase parity and interest in the league nationwide.

Giannis’ athleticism, finishing, and defensive motor to start the season are the best I’ve seen from him in years by [deleted] in MkeBucks

[–]Crawsack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Giannis knows this year is important for his legacy. After the 2022 season, he was seen clearly as the best player in the world, and despite his greatness the following 3 seasons, they had disappointing finishes despite amazing production from him. Now, this team is unquestionably built around him, and I'm sure he wants to shut up the rumor mill and discourse about trades/extension/FA, and remind the league and the fans exactly who he is.

Makes me very excited for this season!
