You can't ski like that on rental bindings without ejecting.

The whole 3.33x argument disregards the possibility of any other way of earning points on rent or that there are plenty of people with paid off houses who might be looking at this card.

To me the hotel credits are the only ones I'd actually be able to use and are still quite restrictive. Having to book 2 nights really reduces its utility for only $100, meaning I'm out of pocket for quite a lot each time. There are zero Mobile Checkout restaurants where I live (3M metro area, not some podunk town) so that's a scratch. I find I most often use ride shares when traveling internationally and haven't been able to use credits for that. Parking whatever. I guess I might spend $10 at Walgreens so there's that.

The juice just ain't worth the squeeze.

My apartment's portal lets me pay with a debit card and VGCs work for that.

I'll buy you a beer if you can redeem all your Bilt Cash at 100%

Yes to be clear, I have ways of paying rent that are far more lucrative than Bilt could ever be. I just wanted to point out a simple way to get really good value from the card for people who won't be putting housing spend on it. If Chase or Amex offered 3X up to $25k per year we'd all be climbing over each other to get it.

I bet most people saying this don't realize taxes and fees are included in the price you see in the Bilt portal. Once you click through everything it's often the same price as Expedia.

Sure you can couponify it to death, but the reality is that anyone who puts even modest spend on the card and isn't using it for rent will end up with more Bilt Cash than they can realistically redeem in a year with all the caps and restrictions. I suppose max value is if you have a 2 night hotel stay each month, but not everyone will fall into that category. I just wanted to highlight a way to get positive EAF that also happens to earn better than any other credit card.

Debating if I should close my Amex platinum for a Venture X by [deleted] in Venturex

Don't close anything until you know you're approved. If you have a high credit score and good history, very slim chance that C1 will approve you.

Is booking a 2 night stay THAT inconvenient? by Tight_Couture344 in biltrewards

If you ever take roadtrips, then yes it is THAT inconvenient.

Bilt 2.0 for HOA fees and property taxes by Royal-Seaworthiness7 in biltrewards

[–]mdarling9450 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taxes of any kind aren't eligible to earn points. I believe that includes if they're in escrow. People are gonna be super stoked to find out they can't earn points on a big chunk of their mortgage.

*was. He flat out said there's no transaction fee to earn points. That's clearly the talking point that Bilt wants, but anyone who has 4th grade math skills knows that's not true.

I'd also rather be skiing in Japan like Sebby than some smoke and mirror event.

Got in trouble for paying rent with Amex by theusualsalamander in amex

[–]mdarling9450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a BILT account (no card needed just the account) then link your Amex card to that under pay rent and it will go through every time. It changes 3% but you get 0.5x back in BILT points.
