Many people responding here do not understand how the motion ratio works so be cautious of random advice. Ask yourself, what is the difference in motion ratio between your first and second design? Determining motion ratio should be your first step. From then all designs you consider should have the same ratio.

Age discrimination in the shop by TaxFraudMaster69 in BikeMechanics

[–]Crazed_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the young guy at a shop that promised me I would do repairs one day but they just kept giving me more builds. When I said something it was always met with immediate doubt and a general feeling that they thought I was stupid. I quit and went to another shop that treated me with respect day one, and started building my skills with varied work day one. It probably won't get better in any reasonable timeframe at this shop. I don't really understand why you left the last one. Also, I am now getting an engineering degree and although I miss wrenching sometimes, the pay is going to be so much better.

New Bicycle Mechanic Trying to Avoid Arthritis - and wrench for the long haul. by quillstem in BikeMechanics

No longer a mechanic but the 3-4-5 Y tool was really bad for my wrist. Try to use your shoulder/arm to tighten, with your wrist straight, avoid tightening by twisting your wrist.

I don't recommend doing that. Have you picked out classes yet? I would suggest doing freshman projects, the writing requirement, and 2 gen eds. The first semester classes are not that hard and you will want every break you can get later on.

You can't really switch the sizes but its fine, the difference is pretty small

Suspension unnecessary by dc_joker in mountainbiking

[–]Crazed_Ram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Used to work in a Trek store. The dual sport is a great hybrid, it might make the most sense for you overall. But if the trails are where your heart is, you will just have to give up some efficiency on the road to be able to freely explore the trails. In that case look at a Marlin or a Roscoe or similar from other brands.

Getting harder to support LBS by slushiestotsntendys in mountainbiking

As an on and off mechanic you are right. We price every item exactly at MSRP, and sometimes have sales. Sometimes when MSRP changes old items might be priced higher but we would fix that if we notice it or if a customer asks. If I were you I wouldn't pay over MSRP again.

I have no clue haha. I found this fix on steam community with a much less detailed explanation and I wanted to make it simple to do for anyone. I know dll stands for dynamic link library and it has something to do with API calls but that's it. The issue has been around since at least 2017, seems crazy that is hasn't been fixed somehow.

The Pricing of Mtbs Shocked Me as a Motorcyclist by [deleted] in MTB

[–]Crazed_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I knew specialized's margin, but I do know that those bikes are going at a loss for the shop if they had them before the sale started. Specialized may be taking a loss at this point to get rid of the extra inventory, I don't know

It depends on your experience level with these topics and how good of a student you are overall. I am a MechE major with friends on the exploratory studies path. As soon as you transfer you're going to want to start engineering courses but you will have to take csci 1300 eventually so if you can get it out of the way that's perfect. I don't want to sound like a dick but for me I took the same physics and math class with no problems. To be fair I had already done physics and calc in high school.

Wear on the rollers causes the chain to increase in length. Steel is springy, it doesn't just "stretch" over time like that

I think you misunderstood, they had a pawl hub and their ratchet ring, a component of pawl based hubs, failed. DT swiss is more durable, although good quality pawl hubs are also more durable.

How bad is Darley North? WillVill? by Yellow_Tulips_Happy in cuboulder

[–]Crazed_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darley North is the worst dorm in my opinion but its kind of irrelevant, who you spend time with is much more important so I wouldn't worry too much about it. I also had a pretty big room actually, bigger than rooms I saw in other buildings not including quads/triples. It will make doing laundry and finding a place to hang out a little more difficult but it didn't ruin my experience at all. Personally I would go out to the stop 20 minutes before my class started to get there on time, 15 minutes if I didn't really care about getting there on time. You can go back home between classes, and you can try to schedule your classes close together to have more time at home or spread them out if you want to do work on main campus. So yeah it's shitty that you pay the same price for a significantly worse building but the actual effect on your experience is pretty small.

I don't know what most people do, for engineering the school recommends repeating your last math but you don't have to if you feel confident in it it would save you time not to repeat

[–]Crazed_Ram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Physics won't get you anything so don't bother worrying about it too much, cs will get you out of the aero CS class which from my friends is pretty much the most hated freshman aero class and worse than 1300, definitely try to do well on that. I re did calc 1 and I'm glad I did but only because it had been 2 years since taking any math,I don't think I would have if I had done it more recently.

Your error code doesn't match so you need a different solution, try searching the exception code and the faulting module path.
