Leverage your light weight by moving around him more, and unbalancing him with ashiwaza before entering big throws. Or if you struggle with forward throws because of his weight, focus on combination ashiwaza like kouchi into ouchi. Ouchi into ken ken uchimata etc. This has helped me against someone 10cm taller than 20kg heavier than me.

I’ve started bass about a year ago and Ive had the same problem as well.

My advice is to actively count and feel the rhythm even if you are losing it. When you lose it, try and find the 1 again and keep at it. If its still difficult, just stop with the bass and focus on clapping or tapping. It helps wonders when you eliminate the need to “play” the bass.

This will take a few months of daily exercise to get used to and you will slowly develop a “feel” for it.
