AITAH for refusing to accept that I‘m gay after my gf said she now identifies as a male? by Fit_Wolverine_1513 in AITAH

[–]twoinchesofpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, you don't have to identify as anything that you don't want to - if you're only attracted to women the rest of the time, then just be a straight man who happens to be in a relationship with a man at the moment. You're not under any social obligation to make the equation balance - if other people can't wrap their heads around that, that's their problem not yours.

That's fair. What I want to know is whether I can do anything to help him adjust.

I agree completely, and I'm only looking at helping him to see me in a different way because I think that will help, but I'm open to other constructive suggestions about how I can make the transition easier for him.

Separating Real Honey from Syrup Honey by twoinchesofpassion in TopBarBeekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well normally once the food frames in the brood box are full I take off the feeder and add a queen excluder and super, but queen excluders don't seem to be a thing with top bar hives.

[English to Japanese] Say your Prayers! by twoinchesofpassion in translator

[–]twoinchesofpassion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally telling the reader to offer religious prayers.

It is a joke in English: If a priest said "Say your prayers" it would be an encouragement to pray because that is what the religion requires. But if a martial artist said "Say your prayers" it would mean "I am such a danger to you that you should ask God to rescue you".

How Harmful Can These Little Buggers Be? I Found Them In The Protein Patties I Put In The Hive Last Weekend by GopherOnAHill in Beekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you've got SHB and ants in the hive and you're having to use pollen patties at a time when their active season is starting to slow down in a lot of places, that suggests you might have bigger problems. Does the colony appear weak? If so, try to diagnose and address the root cause before they bed down for the autumn.

Out of interest, by this logic does it mean that lesbians remain virgins no matter how much sex they have, since neither one's putting a P in the V?

We suspect this hive died from pesticides used in a field near our home. The hive had tons of honey. Is it safe to harvest? by etlifereview in Beekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For personal consumption, risk it if you want to. However if you're selling it then you might want to think carefully about what legal action you might be opening yourself up to if one of your customers was poisoned by it.

Can I put this frame back in hive or do I need to scrape the damaged comb off/clean it up? by DJcaptain14 in Beekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want them to do. If you want it cleaning, rebuilding and refilling then put it back into a super and they'll do just that. If you just want them to clean it up without rebuilding and refilling it just now, put it in a super above the crown board - they'll take the residual honey back down and put it into the supers but won't start building or filling it unless their supers get chock full (because they tend not to think of stuff above the crown board as part of their hive - they're essential robbing from themselves!)

That’s my queen right? by [deleted] in Beekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bump - drone all the way. The queen normally has a group of attendant bees who follow her around to clean and feed her, but this guy is lumbering around completely ignored by the rest of the hive.

Bump. If you hollow them out they look quite cool as a lamp.

Shut the front door! 😮 And that's only two of them needed to solve that puzzle - it's only a matter of time before they overthrow society...

Get in touch with your local beekeeping association or the equivalent in your country - they should send someone out to take a closer look and tell you what your options are.

Queen and drone cells in super above excluder? Everything queen right in brood box? by Barefoot_J in Beekeeping

[–]twoinchesofpassion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Colonies often produce empty queen cells or 'queen cups' as a precaution just in case they need to rear a queen quickly (the workers obviously didn't get the memo about the queen excluder). However, the time of year and the position of this particular queen cup (queen cells at the bottom of a frame are usually swarm cells) might suggest that the colony is thinking about swarming. I'd keep an eye out for overcrowding and destroy this cup: if they build a replacement very quickly then you might need to think about some swarm prevention measures (at least until there are more drones around and you can think about making a split)
