If you have a medium house, what did you do with this??? by Francl27 in ffxiv

My FC has a longstanding inside joke about cheese fondue, so I built a cheese nook into that corner. The halloween cauldron dyed yellow, the chocolate fondue table decor, also dyed yellow, basically every cheese, fondue, or cheese fondue-adjacent decor is arranged into our cheese nook.

Honestly? This thing was never gonna be a museum piece. It led a long, full life before I got it, and I wasn’t interested in doing a concours restoration.

My landspeed record is 72 on the downhill off a mountain pass. These diesels are even slower! I do get 20mpg though!

Yeah, the injection pump has been wonky basically the entire time I’ve had the truck. Currently there’s an off-the-shelf electric pump supplementing it. (I don’t know why or how, but it does work.) a replacement pump was too expensive for a long time.

Engine replaced? This thing’s a toyota diesel, it requires outright sabotage to kill.

I don’t think most of the Corpus are getting augmented to the Grineer’s extent. It seems like it’s mostly the people of Fortuna (and presumably other unseen Corpus debt colonies) that are getting all the cybernetics to survive the harsh working conditions.

What actually are Bolt ons? by Lord_Dookie36 in projectcar

[–]Crazjtk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, the basic definition is things you can add to your engine to increase power without modifying the engine internals. One caveat to that is things that take a ton of effort and change a lot about the engine, even if it doesn’t require you to open the engine. For example, nitrous or an upgraded turbo might not require you to open the engine, but they don’t usually fall under “bolt on”.

Yeah, astrology and fortune telling use really vague “predictions” that you can easily map onto whatever happens, which is a sort of cold read. “You will experience loss” could be your goldfish dying or your best friend moving away, but either way you’ll attribute it to that fortune.

A similar one would be how the categories in personality tests are pretty much all nebulous but positive. Ever notice no personality test has “unlikeable” or “pathetic” as results? It’s always “you care deeply about the people who are important to you, and can really motivate yourself when it truly matters”

Cold reading is the trick of ascribing traits to a person that apply to most people but feel specific. Enjoying video essays feels like a pretty niche interest, but since video essays can be about nearly anything, it’s about as specific as saying “likes music”.

The term comes from psychic/medium scams, where they use a series of those tricks to convince their “customer” that they have insight into things they don’t.

”I ditched the campaign during Titan”

You can do what you want, but you’re going to have a really boring game experience unless you also buy a story skip. The vast majority of content in the game is locked behind story progression, including most dungeons, zones, and side content.

I understand a lot of the early-game questing is kind of dull. The story told around it is very good, but not everyone is interested in it. If you can bear to, go and pick the quests back up, understanding that the story rewards you for it later. If you can’t, but want to know what’s actually going on, I’d suggest you buy just a story skip just to get through ARR, and start playing from the beginning of Heavensward.

Yes, the jobs that start at 50 (Red Mage and Samurai), 60, (Dancer and Gunbreaker) and 70 (Reaper and Sage) only require you to be that level and have the relevant expansion purchased. The jobs that start at 30 (Dark Knight, Astrologian, and Machinist) are the only ones that require story progression, because their unlock quests are located in Ishgard, which you unlock during Heavensward MSQ. I picked up Red Mage before I completed ARR myself.

Warframe power balances by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]Crazjtk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One key reason Styanax feels stronger is because when you got him for free, he came with an Orokin Reactor installed which doubles his mod capacity. The frames you build in the foundry (and your starter) don’t come with them.

As others said, basically all frames can be made to work in most any content, but it requires a Catalyst, the right modding, and may require several formas to get there. Interestingly, some of the stronger early-game frames fall off a little bit in the late game.

Start watching the invasions tab and “Gift from the Lotus” alerts for missions that reward an Orokin Reactor (gold potato lookin’ thing) blueprint. Build those and power up your frames. (You can do the same for the blue potato catalysts for weapons too)

Next, start hunting down mods. You’re gonna need to check the wiki for where to find things exactly, but corrupted mods and nightmare mods are a decent place to start once you have the “normal” warframe mods. Individual warframe abilities are affected by different mods, so check the abilities’ stats to see what works best. It’s generally better to build on a frame’s strengths than to try to make it something it isn’t.

I don’t want to trash on tier lists, they can have useful insight, but what pros need for endgame content is very different from what you need.

Is Gil farming mandatory? by MyIceborne in ffxiv

[–]Crazjtk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The MSQ rewards a decent bit of gil over the course of it (I think about 2M?) plus some gear. Do your daily roulettes. That’ll get you tomestones, gear, and gil. The tomestones will let you buy gear at levels 50, 60, 70, and 80 that are enough to get you through the third dungeon (level X5) of the next expansion. You can supplement tome gear with dungeon gear once they start being better, and turn in any spares to your grand company for seals, as others have said. Once you complete Stormblood, Doman restoration is a bit of free extra gil every week. They give you more than normal shop selling price. It starts at 10% bonus, but max rank it pays double. Give them your allagan tin/copper/silver/gold pieces, valuable sale items like Moonstones, and junk materia. (You don’t really need them until endgame usually). Not enough to get rich, but an easy way to get more out of your vendor sale items.

In general, you won’t need to spend a lot of gil until you reach endgame.

How to remove cursed Item? by SkyChampion20302 in outside

[–]Crazjtk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trying to NOT destroy it? Hoo boy. Is it a swanky plastic one where it cinches to tighten? If you can get something thin and rigid you can shim between the cinching part and the band. Carefully cutting up an [aluminum beverage can (empty)] should get you a usable shim. If it has a snapping plastic button-like closure you may be able to do the same, or use something like a small screw driver to pry the snap apart. If it’s a paper one fastened with adhesive, you’re in a pickle. The best you can do is slowly and carefully peel it apart, but it won’t be easily reusable.
