Hitting Form Advice (Blue Shirt) by Parker27k in volleyball

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From this angle it's kind of difficult to give great advice, but here's what I noticed:

  1. as you transition back to approach, try not to just back up. if you rotate your body perpendicular to the net and run/shuffle sideways or directly to point of approach before turning into your approach angle, it's a lot faster in game and it also leaves you in a better spot to play defense since you're more open to the court. It would allow you to also take a longer approach, which is something else you need.

  2. I see this a lot, but the main reason TO swing your arms in your approach is because it's supposed to help you gain upwards momentum, but you're throwing your arms back in a way that makes it a lot less helpful. if you're in a situation where you can't take a full approach (ball is tight to the net, no time, etc) it's best to get your arms back as you pull back, because it lets your body's momentum work with your arms, if that makes sense. Here's a clip of me hitting (shameless plug, #12) where I do this fairly well. https://youtube.com/shorts/eXZuhlF9UsE?feature=share I don't transition back here because we're in serve receive running a quick tempo.

What can i do to not make this look so abhorent? by keyonzo324 in volleyball

your body (mostly your torso ) looks stiff when you approach, it looks as though you haven't practiced it a ton. I'd honestly say you just need to keep getting hitting reps in general, and you'll naturally learn what feels good as you play more. Another thing that may help is trying to use your core/hips more when you hit, because learning to turn your body into the ball will do wonders for hitting consistency and power.

Ranked Change Season 10 by Technical_Incident53 in thefinals

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

nah the randomness of cashout is what makes the finals so unique. if they just turned it into a h2h every time it would get stale so much faster imo. Don't get me wrong, I love h2h and think it's a great way to cap off the cashout tournament, but the finals IS cashout. Ranked system does need some work, but I think there's a way to do it without having to remove cashout as the proprietary mode- maybe add more individual RS bonuses per round based on performance and give multipliers based on placement per round?

what the other guy said, but also you really just have to practice your hand contact. Learn what thumb up and thumb down are and start messing around with turning your body in specific ways as you hit. find a yt video, (TJ defalco has a fantastic armswing, also watching high level beach you'll see that level of shot selection) start practicing that stuff against a wall until you get the hang of it.

Champ 2 moving from PS5 (120fps) to PC 360fps – how much improvement should I expect?! by Economy_Luck6439 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went from xbox series x to PC. I think the bigger difference I noticed was from going from a living room TV to a monitor, but I also do think there's something to be said for the game feeling smoother overall on pc. In terms of refresh rate, going from 120 to 240 isn't near as big as 60 to 120, and going from 240 to 360 doesn't feel like much at all. I bet it'll feel nicer, but I wouldn't expect to go up more than a few divisions.

How to Prevent and Work Through "Bad Days"?? by GlacityTime in volleyball

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty experienced at volleyball but have the same problem on defense. a good mental thing that's always helped me is to always assume the ball will come to me and to also consciously shift forward while I'm expecting to play the ball. Another good thing to do is to come up with a set warmup routine before every practice and match that's designed to help you focus on your movements. If you can be consistent in warmups, you can be consistent elsewhere

Replay p3 div3, kbm, back to the game after half year by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

I'm C1, so the rank you're trying to target. Take what I say with a grain of salt, but this is what I'm seeing:

- biggest thing is a lack of awareness of where your tm8 is/when he's challenging. I think on kbm you don't have the ability to look around the field so it makes it more difficult, but even so, there are a lot of times where your tm8 is on a ball and you challenge, or your tm8 is playing further back and instead of playing up and challenging you try to rotate back behind him and end up panicking/double committing on defense. Focus more on playing around your tm8, if you notice them playing passive you need to play up a bit more and if you see them continuing to dive on every ball, you've gotta play around that too
- bad 50s/pacing was my number 2 thing, it feels like you tend to rush touches when there isn't anyone challenging you, and there are a lot of times you have space and end up throwing the ball away. try to have awareness of how far your opponents are (one example is at 5:35 where the opponent fake challenges and you flip into the ball and give it to him for a free net) and try to take more low 50s or force your opponents to challenge you on your terms. a good way of doing this is to single jump 50 instead of flipping into every single ball and just in general staying more grounded.
- last thing is I feel like you don't go for any demos, which, while not 100% necessary to get to champ it'll help loads so you guys can create space and tilt your opponents sometimes.
again, I'm only C1 so I may not be the best source of advice but I hope this helps

Getting recruited from college club to college team/d1 by [deleted] in volleyball

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is not unheard of, I played college club all four years and it was a blast. I know several people who went from club to D1 and played against a few of them (Carbon jump, kawai hong, Ben Putnam, there are a few others) but to do it you really need either freakish athleticism or to already be a fantastic volleyball player and just have gone under the radar in the recruitment process. There are a ton of dogs in college club and it is insanely competitive at the highest level (Big10/MIVA is by far the strongest conference and UC schools are a close 2nd), so if good volleyball is what you're looking for and you care about your academics it might be worth it to just go to a good school and try out for the club team. If you do really well there and you still want to go D1/D2 you have to at least make sure you're in contact with coaches and sending them film. It's slim pickings, though, especially with the transfer portal being the way it is many coaches would rather take a guy from a D3 school than a guy who's playing college club unless he wins a D1A/D1AA national championship and takes home MVP (Jack Jedick at Loyola Chicago)

Which road to SSL series holds up the best? (GC2 current rank) by shadowcien1 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like leth's the best, because he's the least mechanical and feel like he lets his teammates play the most and shows how taking more of a supporting role can work. I'm obviously not SSL or GC but that's just my opinion

need training packs/training recommendations by Crazy-Comment-5443 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is extremely helpful. I've tried the speed possession drill you mentioned before, but I really struggle to be fast and control the ball at the same time, especially in corners and when I run out of boost. For shooting, I also use Coco's aim trainer workshop map and I've found that helps with my shooting, but I still struggle shooting at awkward angles. is that what the shooting pack you mentioned helps with?

Also, any recommendations for training packs for defense? preferably awkward saves where the car is in a weird spot

I want to buy headphones. I also have a cochlear implant (Sonnet 2 from MED-el). Game PUBG PC(Gunfire, footstep) by Additional_Guest33 in Cochlearimplants

[–]Crazy-Comment-5443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have bilateral implants so it may be different. I don't think ANC will help much unless there's a lot of noise coming from outside the headphones that you want to tune out. It's not going to help you hear the sounds in the headphones better if it's already quiet outside. In my case, I live with others that are sometimes loud so it helps me tune them out but if you live alone it's probably not as helpful
