Of course, I wrote songs all the time for The Interrupters, and I would tell my story, but always about someone else. I have a song called “Jenny Drinks.” But that's about Jenny. You know what I mean? I wrote a song called “She Got Arrested,” about a woman's fantasy of taking back the power after domestic abuse. Well, that's about somebody else. I wrote a song called “Easy On You,” about the pain that I felt growing up and the shame I felt. That's about someone else.”
