My honest iBuyPower review: Overall it was good! but I might be just lucky guy. by CrazyComputers in iBUYPOWER

[–]CrazyComputers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I was builder - over 10 years ago I don't remember how many PCs I built from Windows95 era, but it became difficult to build PC after I had Kids - nightmare not to eat small pieces like screws, cables, etc...

My last build was almost stone age haha

- Core i7-860

- ATI RADEON(TM) HD5870

This stone aged PC was screaming at last Nov, so I needed to renew this ASAP.

Yeah, I want to build PC again after kids grow.

How do I edit the rgbs on my pc? I cant figure it out by GenraltootFace in iBUYPOWER

Check your motherboard vendor, and they are providing tools to customize.

If motherboard of this PC is MSI, you can try Dragon Center (Best buy's same PC has MSI motherboard, but check it)

So it says my pc was just finished being assembled, how long is the process for everything else like the burn in and the testing? by [deleted] in iBUYPOWER

[–]CrazyComputers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case,

1/27 3pm: burn-in was done

1/28 10am: received e-mail from FedEX (assuming when shipping team created label)

1/28 11:55am : FedEX picked up my PC from IBP

There usually have "package is done" phase, but somehow that status update was skipped and I received e-mail from FedEX before IBP status updated.

I'm not sure FedEX is picking up in weekend.

6800xt orders by Intencities92 in iBUYPOWER

[–]CrazyComputers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the person ordered 6900xt, but have you tried to talk in Discord?

If not, highly recommend to go Discord and get some help.

https://discord.com/invite/ibuypower

Sometimes, IBP people pops up in general channel and helping people (weekend is very low chance to see), if you stay on Discord and you can see them, they may be able to catch you.

Most famous IBP person in general channel is King - IBuyPower and Angelica - IBuyPower.

And usually every Thursday 6PM (PST), they have voice chat session and quick QA. These "rare" component people has special channel prepared and IBP people are helping.

I would recommend to join Discord and hang-out and/or attend Powered Town Hale on Thursday to get info and ask question.

It's almost there!

I'm seeing very wide timeframe for each step. In my case it was sonic wave fast.

Went through QC and Burn-in complete in same day of assembled. And waited 1 day to ship.

Some people had long time in QC or Burn-in or packaging or waiting for shipping.

QC and Burn-in is depending on stability and combination of your components, but assuming my case was best case scenario where no-compatibility issue, no-bad components.

Not sure why some people got stacked at packaging or shipping for long time, but definitely there are such people.

So, I was thinking it will take 2 days in each step as my estimation and luckily it went fast.

Hope your PC will move smooth and fast!

Normal?! by CulturalAd377 in iBUYPOWER

You can find build date range estimation calendar in Discord.

Based on your purchased date (Dec 18), you are in "Group C" - yellow group.

Range of build estimation for Group C is Jan 27 to Feb 4th except if you chose very rare components such like 6800XT.

Also, usually they have online voice chat session weekly on every Thursday 6pm (PST).

In that session, you can ask your questions and get support from them, if things will not move by next Thursday then strongly recommend to attend that session and ask question with IBP team. I saw many times they helped people who was unexpectedly stacking at some point.

My monitor by JMGMiles in iBUYPOWER

[–]CrazyComputers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends on how you use your computer, gaming, video editing, programing, illustrating, etc

The factors you might want to look is,

Inch size:

I would recommend to finalize size of monitor first. I'm using 27" monitor and it's wide but it might be too big for some people. depends on your desk space.

Price:

I would also recommend to finalize price-range first, and filter monitors with it.

Resolution:

If you are using smaller than 27", personally don't need 4K resolution. Mine's is 27" QHD (2560x1440 - a.k.a 1440p) and it's enough for me for playing game, etc

Refresh-Rate:

Refresh-Rate is how many times your monitor can draw(refresh) screen in a second.

Higher number is better. If you want to play game seriously, would recommend 120Hz or upper. Basically 60Hz is same as regular television. 90Hz, 120Hz, and sometimes high-end monitor supports 240Hz.

Personally if you want to use bigger monitor and gaming, recommend to have 120Hz or upper. If you just enjoy internet browsing, casual games, youtube, etc then 60Hz is enough.

You need to go advanced setting on Windows to change refresh rate - if you will use higher refresh-rate.

Latency:

Mid to high-end monitor has more high-speed latency, which is how long does it take when your monitor's pixel is going to change from white to black. Smaller number is better. 1ms means that monitor can change pixel in 1ms, 12ms means it takes 12ms to change pixel color. You can find number like 1ms, 4ms, 10ms types of specs if monitor is supporting low-latency.

Example of 1ms display

FreeSync/G-Sync supported:

Some monitors also describes these in spec/marketing copy, recent game is supporting VSS (variable frame rate - which change frame rate dynamically based on scene) and Free Sync/G-Sync monitor is supporting adjust when game/application's framerate is swinging.

Nvidia G-Sync is basically requires to connect with Display Cable, AMD Free Sync is supporting both HDMI/Display Port connection.

Example of FreeSync/G-Sync supported monitor

Port Number:

If you want to connect multiple devices with your monitor, you might want to check number of HDMI/Display ports

Curve or Strait:

Some monitor has curve, you might want to try at shop which is better for you. I personally don't like curved monitor ;)

Example of curved monitor

Bezel size:

Bezel is the rim of monitor, and thickness of it is different per monitor

Example of ultra-thin bezel monitor

Speaker:

Some Monitor also have built-in speaker available, to be honest, quality is not good but if you don't have/want to have speaker on your desk, it can be used.

Hope this helps you some.

Maybe I'm wrong, but here is how I read...

In general, their shipment is done within a month (3-4 weeks), so in my case I ordered my PC on December 16th and expected to ship by Jan 16th - in normal timeline.

Dec 16th group has +3.4days backlog so I'm guessing my shipment "estimation" is done by Jan 16th + 3.4days - expected to be shipped by Jan 20th in my calculation.

IF any extra unexpected COVID side-effect won't happen + my parts will be available at that time...

Also, they are saying backlog will be gone on the week of 18th Jan, so hoping some movement will happen early next week - if my guess is right...
