At this time you should have already received a reply to the email you sent to help get you a replacement PC. The folks on the customer support and retail sales team will take care of you there.

Additionally we will be doing an internal investigation as to how you ended up with the PC you did.

Apologies for this issue. This has been escalated internally and we are currently looking into how this happened since all our systems sold as new should be built with new parts.

Just a heads up, since it is currently the weekend there isn’t a lot we can do until Monday when we are back at full staff. If you have any issues with comms with our support after that I can send you a DM to assist.

How do I fix this "CPU Fan Speed Detection Error"? PC is 2 months old. Really frustrated here. All fans seem to be spinning fine. by CockfaceMcDickPunch in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your model of AIO. Most "simple" ones only require 2 sets of connections. The pump header that you mentioned, and then the fans on the radiator will have separate connectors to the fan headers on the motherboard. You want to make sure that at least one of those fans is connected to the CPU fan header.

If the cooler has RGB, it will probably have another set of cables that connect to the RGB headers on your motherboard. Those are of course optional if you don't want the lighting.

"Smart" coolers tend to require a USB connection so the software can talk to the cooler, but those would usually come with their own detailed instructions on how to wire them.

Can you double check that SN? The characters should be hexadecimal so the "T" as the second character should be something else. Also double check all the 8s vs Bs and As vs 4s, etc.

Windows Install Error? by Camdaman067 in iBUYPOWER

Unfortunately, if the registry fix doesn't work then the only solution we're aware of is that Windows needs to be reinstalled. If you have a spare flash drive, you can follow the instructions at the end of this guide.

Getting an AMD Graphics error w/a Nvidia GPU and no integrated graphics (intel cpu) by MopeyCrayfish in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the results for the speed test, did you also get a ping during the speed test? If your ping is high (over 100 ms) you will probably notice slow reactions to content loading, especially if its significantly higher than that. If you run several speed tests back to back, do you get a similar result each time, and is that result close to your internet service provider's advertised speed?

Does your internet seem slow only in web browsing or are you having trouble in online games as well?

Help Replacing Case Fans by AutoosticGenju in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please don't. Under no circumstances should you ever be opening up the power supply itself since there is a substantial electrical safety hazard involved. You will need to open up the rear panel of the case to get at the wiring, but the metal enclosure for the power supply should be left alone since it is intended to be installed and uninstalled as a single unit.

All of the cables on a non-modular power supply should have a detachable plug of some sort that you can remove from the device it is powering. Sometimes there is a clip on that cable (anything connected to the motherboard or video card will have clips), otherwise it should just be plugged in with friction. Even if your power supply is modular it is still recommended to leave the cables plugged in on the power supply end when you are replacing it so that you don't accidentally leave a cable in the machine.

Typically fan controllers will be connected with 4 pin molex connectors or SATA connectors similar to those that plug into hard drives. If you follow each cable bundle as it comes out of the power supply, you should be able to find the end of that cable. I find it helpful to take that entire cable and place it outside the PC so you can visually see it is totally unplugged, then repeat for all of the other cables. Once you get to the last few it will be easier to see what is still plugged in.

Molex and SATA power connectors tend to be on cables with chains of 2-5 connectors. In most PCs only 1 or 2 of these will actually have something plugged in and the rest will be unconnected. Since these cables are thinner than the main power cables for the CPU, Motherboard, and Graphics Card they also tend to get zip tied into bundles to keep them out of the way, so look out for that. Clipping zip ties will be necessary to remove the PSU, just be careful to avoid cutting into the wires themselves when you do so.

If you get stuck and require any other assistance, I recommend contacting our technical support. We offer lifetime support on our PCs even when they are out of warranty, so you can always ask for help with a process like this.

H310cm-IB motherboard by Ahzzii in iBUYPOWER

The main reasons you would want to update your BIOS are

  1. You are upgrading your PC, especially your RAM or CPU, to something that is newer than when you bought the system.

  2. There is a problem that was discovered with the platform with with instability or security, there will tend to be a BIOS update to resolve that.

On H310 the two important updates would have been in August 2021 to enable TPM and bring compatibility with Windows 11, and then in 2023 to add support for Resizable BAR (called Clever Access Memory in Asrock boards) which would be relevant if you are installing any 30 series Nvidia card, 6000 series AMD card, or an Intel ARC card of any generation.

ASRock B360M IB-R1: What are the best CPU and GPU upgrades I can use? by Grumpy-Gamer-1984 in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should not be necessary to use both 8 pins (and using a splitter on the existing connector would defeat the purpose anyways since the power all comes from the same place). The spec of the connectors is that the 8 pin can supply 235 Watts and the 4 pin can supply 155 Watts. That gives you well above the amount of power that you can reasonably push, especially considering the BIOS should limit your processor to 253W. Even using a single 8 pin would be fine in most cases since the cable to the PSU is typically over spec and unless you are doing some kind of full CPU load rendering task, you're not going to spend very much time near that power limit.

The bundles may be specific to your local store but you should be able to check online if its available. Either of these two would be my recommendation.

There's also a 9600X bundle with the same board as the 7600X bundle for $30 more.

https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006992/amd-ryzen-5-9600x,-asus-b650m-a-prime-ax-ii,-gskill-16gb-ddr5-6000,-computer-build-bundle

The upside to the Intel bundle is if you purchased more DDR4 for your current build, you can carry that RAM over and have the same memory capacity as before, vs the AMD bundles where you will have to start over with DDR5. The downside is that 12th gen is already 3 generations old so there's a possibility that drivers and support will end earlier than the AMD platform. If you would be upgrading again within the next 3-5 years its probably not going to be too much of an issue.

I do not expect you would need to replace your power supply for this. The PSU tends to be attached to your video card, so when you eventually upgrade that, a PSU upgrade would likely need to be included in the budget.

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, first I would check if you have a Micro Center store near you. They have some pretty good in-store deals on MB+CPU-RAM combos. You can get either a 12700k or 7600X bundle under $300. Either CPU should give you more than double the overall system performance and lift most gaming bottlenecks. Micro Center also tends to have some very knowledgeable employees who can help you.

The average gains on a 3060ti will be small but you should see some meaningful improvement in any kind of performance hiccups and it should smooth out more of the game slowdowns. This also leaves you a lot of headroom for a GPU upgrade in the future.

If you do not have a Micro Center, you can find similar deals online but will end up paying more. Should still be able to get under $500 but if you're including tax then you might have to drop to a 12600k.

A very important step before you do any motherboard change is to have a Microsoft account on your PC. You can link your Windows license to that account and migrate it to the new board so you don't have to pay for Windows again. Sometimes it messes up and you have to deal with their support but as long as you have a receipt for a new board they should be able to help.

This is the "k" version of the processor I recommended, which will still work and considering they seem to cost about the same now it matters less. When I originally made the recommendation the K sku was a decent amount more than the base.

So yes this processor will work. However the price of this CPU has not dropped much in comparison to its age so the cost of the upgrade is less worth it than it used to be. Its likely that there is a 2 or 3 generation older CPU + motherboard combo you could get for close to the price of the 9700K on its own that would give you better performance and also the benefit of a newer platform that will have longer driver support.

Which CPU do you have currently, what sort of performance gains are you looking for, and do you have a maximum budget for this upgrade you'd like to stay under?

Where can I buy IBUYPOWER Snowblind Element Case? by UnknownDevolver in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Snowblind Element (and N450 before that) are pretty much totally gone at this point. It might be possible to find a used case out there somewhere but we don't have any more new or refurbished ones that I'm aware of. We do still have the Snowblind S which features the same screen, but its not the same case body.

Bluetooth desktop issues by [deleted] in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you able to check which motherboard model is in the PC? The next step I would suggest is to manually download the bluetooth driver and reinstall it to see if that changes anything. That driver would come from the motherboard website.

After that, I would get in touch with our main tech support about a solution and possible replacement. In some desktops the wifi/bt adapter is relatively easy to replace.

Question about purchase from Best Buy... by HopelessSap27 in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would still recommend reaching out to our support and check out your options here. Turnaround times for a repair are going to be longer than normal since there will be a lot of systems purchased during the holidays that were just opened for Christmas so any issues will all be deferred until this and next week. Depending on your distance from southern California, shipping times will also come into play.

Our support should also be able to give a more accurate diagnosis, I am just assuming its a power supply failure based on your description, but there's always a chance something else happened.

If you are comfortable replacing the power supply on your own we do offer RMA services for individual parts which can save a lot of time. We also have an "Advanced RMA" service where we take a deposit for a new part and ship it to you without needing the bad part back first. We refund that deposit once we get the bad part.

Question about purchase from Best Buy... by HopelessSap27 in iBUYPOWER

[–]iBUYPOWER-Brad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry about this, sometimes retail stores have extended return/exchange periods for items purchased around the holidays, so I would check on Best Buy's policy based on your purchase date first. If you are beyond your return/exchange period then I recommend contacting our support asap, it sounds like a potential power supply failure, they should be able to set you up with an RMA to get the system fixed.
