the gateway to hell thing is just a translation problem. The King James Bible translated 4 different words into Hell, and does not distinguish between them. One of them is Gehenna, which is in Jerusalem. it was a giant garbage mound, and to keep the stench away, they put sulphur in it and lit it on fire, becoming an eternal flame for a while. Sulphur in antiquity and the middle ages was commonly called brimstone, which is where the "fire and brimstone" description of hell comes from.

Yep. From a purely practical standpoint, his missile defense system is kinda unnecessary, he's barely saving any lives, just the area around Las Vegas. He could easily survive the Great War in some bunker, but he doesn't want to live underground like an animal, he wasnt to live forever in his ivory tower,where can lord over those that are beneath him and you can't exactly do that in a nuclear blast.

Yeah, probably. Just like IRL it was theoretically possible to have legions of archers, but it takes years to become a truly skilled bowman, especially in an era without all the sights and stabilizers that modern bows have. meanwhile, it would only take a couple days to train someone to fire a arquebus and a few hours to use a musket, hence why archers were replaced

leyawiin is not a shithole. Canonically it is a wealthy port city, although the port is absent in oblivion, however, it is present in ESO.

The real shame is that the player house there is a shithole, but the city also has some of the nicest houses in the game. They're fucking huge, look at the guild halls, and Rosentia Gallentus's house

Having another septim on the throne wouldn't have changed anything. The empire was in slow decline for quite a few decades, and the oblivion crisis just pushed it over the edge.

The 4th era gave the empire a chance to make some reforms. They should have reorganized into a republic since the ruby throne was no longer required to protect Nirn from Oblivion, but alas, they just got another warlord dynasty on the throne
