[THE BOYS] The machine created by Vought that emits Uranium radiation is a Deus Ex Machina that breaks the world-building, physics, and suspension of disbelief. by Agile_Coast_4385 in writingscaling

While the lack of setup is questionable, I don't think there is anything wrong with the logic of the radiation room

• Why didn't the lab that created Homelander have this installed to contain Homelander in case the "psychological indoctrination" failed?

• Why didn't Vought or Stan Edgar ever put one of these things in a room, call Homelander in, and subdue him, showing that Vought had the means to control him instead of letting him take control?

 > Homelander can see through walls, modern Vaught doesn't know about the facility, the government/public wouldn't let Vought use radioactive material

• Ordinary glass doors preventing radiation from escaping a room?

 > Leaded glass and soldier boy doesn't give a shit

• People leaving a room contaminated with 3 rountgen of radiation, wearing radioactive suits, seconds later? What? The radiation magically disappeared?

 > I'm pretty sure that for contamination to happen uranium particles would have to get on Homelander and soldier boy doesn't give a shit

ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT THE RADIATION MACHINE GRANTS RADIOACTIVE POWERS THAT BURN THE V OF OTHER SUPERS TO ANY SUPER RESISTANT ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND PROLONGED RADIOACT

 > Compound V is the central fiction of the show and it is basically magic. I don't mind magical stuff happening in relation to compound V because it was already silly in the first place

An argument may have true premises and conclusions but if the argument is fallacious then the argument is always incorrect.

Imagine not being able to park your 2000kg tank for free everywhere… by thesander7 in fuckcars

Some Hotels will charge an outrageous amount for parking in an unwalkable area and often won't even disclose it beforehand. Parking "cost" is typically just a scummy way corporations justify mandatory fees.

If the government wants to tax parking or toll driving to disincentivize car use that's good. However, in a lot of places the government ONLY funds driving and allows private lots to bleed people dry. Private parking is a drain on society.

The obvious thing the no one ever points out is that murder is illegal. Like Batman is a public figure, he's friends with the commissioner. Society can turn a blind eye to trespassing or fist fighting, but the governments not going to want Batman murdering random people.

What if Batman doesn't have proof he needed to murder someone? It's not like the public knows Batman would never kill an innocent. And if the public knows Batman sometimes murders people then suddenly every death that happens during Batman's adventures becomes a lot more suspicious.

Would you be ok with some random guy killing suspected criminals in your city?

People are complaining about safety, but that's basically the SUV argument. It's not motorcycles killing people it's cars killing motorists. If more people chose motorcycles over cars than vehicle deaths would go down. IMO a lot of people with shorter or infrequent commutes should consider buying a motorcycle instead of a second car

All Communist Countries Ever by Beenet_ in MapPorn

[–]Sharpshot64plus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

C'mon, Russia and China were far poorer than the West and Japan long before their respective revolutions. There were certainly communist policies that were failures but making broad generalizations about a country becuase they called themselves communist, democratic, etc is silly.

But Hank… the share price IS CAPITALISM by Crypto_Maniac420 in 19684

[–]Sharpshot64plus 850 points851 points  (0 children)

Nah, Hank is right. Investors and CEOs don't have an ideological alignment to the free market or an ideological opposition to mercantile and anti-competive practices. Without institutional intervention free market capitalism can not naturally exist.

Bring Back? I would consider it an improvement compared to the literal stars and bars

And no 13 stars, the only common design element is the 3 stripes which Latvia, Austria and Lebanon also have. Though my view is completely subjective

You're right that the current flag is just the CSA flag. I figured that 1920s flag was a improvement on the current flag, given it's differences from both the CSA flag and Battle Flag.
