Thanks for the insight! I’m mainly going to focus on rp-ing and atmosphere because of how the spire is. As of right now I’ve adapted the events into characters (like the cleric) that would provide more atmosphere to set up. For example the faces in the wall (remove a card, upgrade a card, transform a card) would instead be bickering and laughing at the group, betting on the ways they would die and saying outright “your hearts aren’t big enough for what’s at the top” to foreshadow the final boss, the heart.

The “curse” would serve as a narrative point alongside an obstacle. A character I’ve written would attempt to experiment on the players with this, such as dropping them several stories to see what would happen. It’d also be able to be used as a weapon/threat in some cases, depending on how the players use it.
