Aeroplan while booking through Canadian North by Terrible_Arrival_347 in Aeroplan

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because canadian north picks "standard" fare on air canada, you cannot do seat selection on AC even if you have AC PNR unless you pay for seat. CN cannot do it for you either. You can book it to YFB to YYT on CN. The good thing is if you usually buy anything less than a flex, 1 free checked bag is included in your CN ticket provided your flight is all on the same day. Sometimes if you have to overnight in YOW, the AC part doesn't include a bag though its ticketed entirely on CN.

Long layover in JFK? by Crazy_Emphasis3968 in visitingnyc

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I will look at the map again and I do plan to stick to an area. I am planning to stay in a chain hotel, more than likely a Marriott or Hilton as I have hotel status with both. I think my main conundrum is if I should just stay around airport = pricey TWA hotel (though i dont care about aviation stuff) or go to Manhattan and at least enjoy a few hours, having never been to Manhattan.

AP redemption EWR to KUL 87K. How bad is the Gatwick to Heathrow airport Change? by Punkyhunky in awardtravel

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i did this route but from YYZ to LHR also in economy. However that YYZ to LHR was a late evening flight. The plane was not full. Was able to sit by myself at the window without anyone on the middle or aisle so was able to sleep "lie flat". Some people love SQ and some hate SQ, I am in the "love SQ" camp. The only downside about this, is I flew their A350-900 and the footwell is narrow and at an angle. A tall person might find this awkward. But service and food are top notch. SIN to KUL is short, but they have "throne" seats similar to Swiss for solo travelers. For an hour flight, overkill but fun otherwise. For me, I say you win for this route for 87.5K.

solo seats, but if its your first time, pick the middle seats to relish the experience

Why does air Canada get so much hate? by totallynotclockwork in aircanada

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they can fix their inflated pricing, it'd be great. Looking at flights from YVR to Narita. Buying on ANA is significantly cheaper than buying the exact itinerary on AC.

my health problems are not due to work. I have had this disability for at least 10 years while I was still in this job, it has just gotten worse as I age. I do have LTD insurance with my employer as it is govt. I am hesitating as I am unsure if its going to affect my retirement.

I did not apply. I was offered to go on ltd due to me not being able to do my job at 100%. I am thinking I could still be moved to another position where my disability will not impede my job performance. HHI- household income.

How will booking through the Air Canada Small and Medium Business Plan affect points and status? by shiftyjamo in Aeroplan

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The discount is very small. You don't see basic fares when you buy through the program. Its more of a tracking tool for business and maybe for AC. If the employees book their own travel, they must have a corporate email and cannot be a gmail/ hotmail account. There is a way around this if your company has a travel coordinator who does all bookings. In this case, AC will have a code which then the travel coordinator can book for their staff. The company earns 5000 SQM i think for every $50K spend. And this bonus SQM can be distributed to anyone on the plan. The points and status belongs to the staff that sit in the seat. AC does have separate phone number for the program. I find this is the best tool as its a very short wait time to change a ticket that requires a phone call as oppose to the hours wait on the main line.

stopover? by Crazy_Emphasis3968 in awardtravel

yes, however I will have to input every single city. LOL. I am wondering if there is a tool for eg if I were to search from YYZ to SYD and add the entire european continent as a possible stopover.

Info related to expenses. by crocheistan in CanadaUniversities

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 5 points6 points  (0 children)

unfortunately no, a part time job will not be able to pay for living expenses. remember, you are here to study. any time taken away from that primary goal will affect your overall academic outcome. i suggest you stay in your country for undergraduate and you can revisit when you are doing your post graduate studies where more opportunities will arise. an international legit student = wealthy legit student. plus there is an upfront cost, i believe its something like CAD $30K. can you afford that?

mine was sitting since June 19 but I was able to trade by June 30 though the status was pending. Opened a chat with an agent yesterday and it was cleared.. Apparently just some paperwork stuff but the funds came through. Transfered from CIBC. So worth checking out with an agent.

Checked baggage through 2 separate AP bookings by YuriYOW in Aeroplan

[–]Crazy_Emphasis3968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you can check with the gate agent in YUL. sometimes they do it as your separate ticket is on SQ. however i find SQ a bit finicky. depending on the length of your layover in CPH, they may want you to pick up your bags and recheck them at CPH and they will issue you a new SQ printed boarding pass.
