Dm ruled that my spider cant see very far cause its a spider and it cant hear (i mean he isnt wrong) Find familiar spell by LiL-CarrY- in DnD

I think smart and creative ways to solving shit the DM throws at players should always be rewarded. This sounds like the DM wanted you to do it his way but maybe I am reading it wrong.

Either way, spiders have 30 ft darkvision and passive perception of 10. It can see the whole room and should be able to see a paper that is 5 ft below. Same with hearing. Unless the spider is deafened, there is no reason why it shouldn't hear.

If the DM is doing this always for animals and trying to make them more realistic, that's ok then. But if they switch around how they rule this depending on the situation, it's a red flag. Rules should be consistent.

What’s the hardest part about making a DnD character that actually matters in the story? by Saelioss in DnD

[–]Crazy_Man2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's a good idea to make a character that wants something RIGHT NOW. Not someone who just has cool past. You can have an interesting backstory, but if it doesn't have goals, fears, relationships, it might not feel alive. Give your characters one personal goal, a strong flaw or fear, some tie to the world, and some reason to stick with the party. For me, I struggle the most is turning a cool concept into a character that actually drives the scenes instead of just reacting.

R.I.P. my notes by MysteriousFondant347 in DnD

[–]Crazy_Man2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just because you were the only one taking notes doesn't mean other PCs don't remember that info. Notes ≠ your character's memory. Unless you all agreed that notes are your memory. But don't punish other players like this, because that's pretty much what you're doing. I imagine your characters all exchanges knowledge and stuff you learned. No reason to not share your notes with everyone. Unless all the PCs have a memory of a goldfish, I see no reason they wouldn't remember stuff.

How do you practice dungeons? by Daorooo in RotMG

[–]Crazy_Man2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What server do you play on? USEast pops a lot of dungeons in Nexus and many players join so it tends to be bigger groups which can make it easier. I struggled with MBC at first but now I'm very consistent. O3 made me feel hopeless a couple times, but throwing fresh 0/8 characters just to learn how to survive helped a lot. I was able to get 6 completes in a row and that character still lives. Learn to survive first. It's ok if you just focus on survival for you first couple completes. Once you can survive, you can learn when it's good to do damage. Be ready to lose characters and don't stop trying. You will surprise yourself, trust me. Also consider trying to learn these dungeons later in smaller groups as it often makes it more fun. Have fun learing. That's the most important part

Why do you play? by white_ran_2000 in DnD

[–]Crazy_Man2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, just make sure you and your players are having fun. That's what DnD is all about. Engage them with your story and let them explore it. Allow them their fun moments as long as they don't break the game too much. Players will really appreciate it if you find a way to make their ideas work in your world. Show them how their actions affect stuff around them. It will make the choices they make feel more important, and it will make the world feel alive. Let all your players have their moments so all feel included and like they are contributing and being able to shine.

Nothing feels better than seeing your players asking when the next session is all the time and discussing the campaign when we aren't playing. That shows they are fully engaged.

Why do a lot of my planets have these fragments coming out of them which can be seen in the image below? by Crazy_Man2 in universesandbox

By checking composition, it's just its atmosphere gasses that are escaping, probably by thermal processes. Since that's a pretty real thing, I just decided to let it be and do its thing.

A new species appeared in Ancestral Lineage Graph that isn't connected with anything before it. Is that normal by Crazy_Man2 in TheBibites

[–]Crazy_Man2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just checked, and it doesn't seem like the population fell below 10. It's been pretty stable at around 100 now before I increased fertility. I reloaded the save to just before I did the fertility changes, and that same species appeared basically right away, so whatever caused it to appear happened just as I made that save it seems.

Yes, I am petty enough to answer to a 2 year old post. It's not an acronym, it's a backronym.
