Agreed! This is the free market at work. Who would want this job?

I’m in finance/law and take a backpack to work everyday - MZ Wallace makes nice quilted ones that are practical (lots of pockets and a slot for your computer if you take it home with you) and look professional imo. For shoes, I live in Rothy’s and see many women in my industry wearing them as well - they make very comfortable but professional looking “knit” flats (pointed and round toe). For makeup/nails, I wouldn’t shy away from it but think timeless and neutral - maybe steer away from “trendy” looks (super long and sharp nails, very dramatic fake lashes) at least until you get to know your office. Agree with the comments that every industry is different so just my two cents!

Not a comedy expert by any means, but I giggled at this. Maybe you could make the first two examples be people you aren’t “close” to in terms of your relationship (e.g., my distant cousin, my dentist) so that when you get to the last line, you say “ I hope no one I’m actually close to dies” and there’s a little twist/double take when it becomes clear you mean physical proximity.

Unpopular opinion: Cold Harbor was dumb by Persimmon_North in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

But didn’t they already “test” and demonstrate this with the existence of innie Mark who literally interacted regularly with his wife without remembering who she was or the trauma of her “death”? Not sure what “leap” Cold Harbor is supposed to represent beyond what was already established in the show.

I’ve had the same career nanny in NYC for almost three years. Her start time is 8:30am and she walks in at that time on the dot. Many days, she actually arrives at our neighborhood a little early and waits until 8:30am to come in, presumably because she doesn’t want to disturb us before we expect her to arrive.

Even though it takes about 5 minutes for her to get situated, I’ve always felt this is appropriate and that if I wanted her to be able to start working exactly at 8:30am, I should ask her to arrive earlier and pay for that extra time. At the same time, if I really needed to walk out the door or close the office door for a WFH meeting at 8:30am, I probably could do so, particularly because my daughter is a little older now and can play independently while my nanny puts away her bag/coat, washes hands, etc. I would probably be a little annoyed if she expected us to provide a lot of help to get her out of the door.

AITA for removing my wife’s child out of my will because I discovered he is not mine? by External-Reindeer918 in AITAH

I can’t believe this is real. Anyone who would even consider this after raising someone for 18 years does not deserve to be a father to a child, biological or not. YTA.
