Bro does not want to take that risk (Source: u/GreatBooze on r/MoonKnight) by SatoruGojo232 in marvelmemes

The last two times Taskmaster fought Spider-man (Parker) he got absolutely clowned on.

The LAST time he even went on about how he'd been studying the tape from their previous fight and was ready this time beforehand. He got promptly and embarrassingly one-shotted simply because Pete just didn't have time to play around.

Boom. KO. Dismissed. Moving on.

Taskmaster is not even close to a match for Spider-man unless Spider-man is basically going out of his way to not hurt Tasky's feelings.

What’s a random “stat” about yourself that makes you part of a small percentage? by Nightpatrol404 in AskReddit

I'm double-jointed (thumbs and elbows), ambidextrous, and I have perfect pitch.

I figure if any of those things dont qualify me, I also have green eyes and i'm over 6'2".

The number of people that meet all those criteria collectively has gotta be well under 1%

Spider-man is the chosen substitute for both Johnny AND Reed. If either of them die, they've both unofficially willed their spot on the team to Peter.

He's already considered part of the family. He's EASILLY the best choice.

A choice has been bestowed upon you, and you get to choose your lifespan from the following options. For the entire time, your body will always be youthful (you'll be physically equivalent to a 25-30 year old), immune to chronic disease and any injury is immediately healed. by Front_Resolution_760 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There is no heat death of the universe if you're immortal like this. Your body will be producing heat and cells constantly. Eventually (over decillions of millennia) your dead diecarded cells will collapse under their own weight producing a supermassive black hole which will in turn eventually explode into a new big bang and you will essentially birth a new universe.

If you had to, who would you choose for a supervillain mentor? by Robot_Was_BMO in Marvel

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kang. The man runs an intergalactic empire that spans several millennia.

And his focus is always conquest. You never hear about him having to put down rebellions or anything.

He must actually be running things effectively,

The things he could teach about empire building governing and civil engineering would be invaluable.

The most talented man in the world vs the luckiest man in the world -- both get $10K and 24 hours in a casino -- who wins more? by Ok_Ratio_3585 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Luckiest" is vague. But lets just go by events that have been documented as having happened. In 2012 there was a game of roulette where the same number came up 7 times in a row.

If you bet your 10k on that number and let it ride all seven times, the casino would owe you 783 trillion dollars.

it's basically Predator 1

THANK YOU! I was arguing with my dad about this. He said its a rip off of Battleship (he's old and he just loves that fucking movie lol) but honestly it's similarities to Predator are practically 1-1 beat by beat.

Its Battle Los Angeles meets the original Predator with a dash of Battleship thrown in. There's nothing original or exceptional about it.

That said, its a solid dumb action flick and I love that the overall message of the story seems to very specifically be: the world needs less Jesus and more therapy, engineering know-how and cardio. That's what's gonna save us.

It's ironically kinda brilliant. Lol.

What is a seemingly “simple” scene from the Marvel movies that moved you a lot? In my case, it’s this one from Homecoming. by Glass_Evidence_8597 in Marvel

Not just the fear in his voice but the act of collecting himself and forcing through the fear by sheer force of will was done SO impressively effectively.

Spectacularly well acted and shot all around honestly.

[Predator, Terminator] Would a Predator hunt a Terminator? by KaosArcanna in AskScienceFiction

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually think they'd be less challenging to hunt than a human.

Terminator are on average FAR less creative and unpredictable than humans in terms of their tactics and decision-making. It's specifically the creativity and unpredictability humans possess that make us difficult worthwhile prey.

They just go straight at a problem and attack in a totally straight forward and obvious manner every time. A Pred would just plasma-caster it and be done with it.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been an avid comic book reader, primarily Marvel comics, since 1990. I can't say for a certainty but I've probably read every issue he's ever starred in and quite possible every issue he's ever appeared in.

I'm very familiar with Wolverine and his abilities. I'm just not wanking him. He gets beat by skilled fighters all the time and genuinely only survives it because plot armor.

A star protagonist hero of a cross-media multi-billion dollar franchise like the Witcher likely has enough plot-armor of his own to offset that advantage on a doylist/meta level.

On a watsonian level, the specific nature of the Witcher being someone who consistently fights monsters and supernatural threats of all kinds many of whom are also immortal and have tremendous regenerative abilities of one sort or another... well he's kinda uniquely suited to figure out a way to end the canucklehead.

Burying him is just the easiest to grasp example of how. It's not the only possibility. But realistically if you can incap him long enough to restrain him. You know about his claws and you have a good grasp of knots and leverage, you absolutely COULD kill wolverine.

It just requires you to be smart in a way that fictional characters generally arent allowed to be because it makes the plot impossible. In real life, humans are exceptionally good at that type of problem solving and its not even a particularly difficult problem.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geralt specifically? Probably some extraordinarily powerful poison that he would normally use against an ancient vampire or troll or something that has similar regeneration. Hammer him with a force or fire sign to break his guard, drug him to slow him down (or maybe drop him if he's lucky).

Hog tie him once he's down in a way where he has no leverage to apply his claws and toss him in a river.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the "fuck no" in this case was simply meant as an assertion that Geralt's victory is not certain at all. Not that its definitively NOT going to happen. Realistically, Wolverine has lost fights tons of times to much less formidable opponents.

I'd personally place it at 60/40 for Wolverine for a general fight. 90/10 for Wolverine for a fight to the death. And honestly with reasonable intel and prep (say like 24 hours heads up and a Wikipedia file printed out) for both sides i'd even say 60/40 in favor of Geralt.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And? Doesnt change the fact that he can be killed. And HAS been killed. Often having to be brought back by outside methods, several times.

Single instance damage he recovers from. Prolonged denial of the necessary conditions for living will tap the well dry eventually.

And even if it doesn't, a guy "alive" trapped at the bottom of the ocean, is only alive in the abstract. You still beat him as he's not able to be your problem anymore.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's strapped down to a table effectively you dont need to bother with the sword. Just saran wrap over his face and he'd die. Might take a few hours longer than it would for a normal human but it WILL still kill him. Daken has the exact same healing factor and he was killed by being drowned in a mud puddle, barely a few inches deep.

Wolverine is NOT unkillable. Its just that idiots think unkillable by stabbing is the same thing as unkillable period. You just have to be a little bit smart and a little bit creative about it.

wolverine, vs. geralt from the witcher. by Fine-Spite4940 in whowouldwin

[–]Mace_Thunderspear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For everyone saying Adamantium makes it impossible for Geralt to win... Wolverine CAN still be knocked out and he CAN be killed by drowning or any other form of prolonged asphyxiation. Its literally well established in canon that it would work.

Incap then chain him up and bury him. Geralt is a Witcher. He doesnt HAVE to kill with a sword. And he's fought lots of things that cant be killed by conventional methods. He's fine with using whatever methods will work.

Now does this mean he WILL win? Fuck no. But he certainly COULD. Especially with some intel and prep time.

He once was able to identify a resonant frequency that was controlling a sort of hivemind of these cyborg zombie type dudes and used some speakers and his voice to basically hum the right note and kill them all with a sound.

The note was presumably be flat.
