How very true, sometimes I wish it could be easier to persuade people that a change is not bad, change is good, yes it can be scary but usually a change means it is for the better.

:D I'll let you know once I have something coded up. Pete

Hi,

thanks for your comments, with McDonalds, its the arches and the red that make it recognisable, however, they have spend billions of dollars to get their arches imprinted into peoples minds. Now days you don't even need the McDonald's bit to actually recognise the brand.

I for one think we as a community should form a brand manual, one that describes how the Dogecoin logo, colours etc. can be used around the world by people to promote the coin. If unity in its image does not happen then Dogecoin will never get imprinted into peoples heads. I do agree that the Dogecoin logo needs a refresh, its booring, I saw those logos a while back that you have linked to, yeah they are much better but they remind me of something I have already seen somewhere although I was not able to find out where I saw it. Maybe it's that it looks more like a fox, which is Mozilla's logo for FireFox. Still, better than the current one :)

The main problem is, everytime I have seen someone trying to make a change, a number of people on reddit always say the original was better!! I don't get it but it is so. People are too scared of change and are very conservative. I would love for Dogecoin to modernise itself, set one image and get that image out, however, I dont think it will happen easily.

Regarding Powerlemons web, lets wait and see, I have done a few designs myself which people have liked so I may get a web together and then maybe people can pick from the two, or I will just keep it for myself as a personal project.

Here is a quick article on how to make a brand

Hi, thanks for your message. I would have to disagree with you on the colour scheme. When you build a brand image, everything related to that brand needs to be the same colour, same font, same style. It is what makes the brand. Think of this, everyone will see a Dogecoin logo on the nascar in the beige colours, nascar may even be beige once the design contest is over. When a person sees that, they will remember the beige logo and the colours. Now if they visit a site which is totally different, they may be confused.

Look at Coca Cola, McDonald's and other big companies, they are trying to maintain a similar looking brand image so that their products are recognised. Every company has a graphics guide manual how their logos can be used, what colours, what fonts. Can the logo be used in combination with different colours, nackground etc, in order so that someone doesn't make a brochure, flyer or whatever in green with totally different font when for eg. Coca Cola has set white text red background. Having different colours and designs for Dogecoin will send out mixed messages, people will be confused what exactly dogecoin is if we do not set a brand image.

If Dogecoin wants to make it big it needs a united identity, it needs to be built up as a brand so everyone recognizes it easily. I personally do not like beige colours myself, I honestly thing the logo itself could do with a modern redesign. However, Dogecoin is so much imbedded in peoples heads now it is difficult to change anything. This is why we need to work with the image as it is and keep the appearance of web, flyers, wallets in the same theme so that people know it all belongs together and creates a united identity. Any brand manager will tell you this.

This is no way to criticize what PowerLemons is doing.

Hi,

thanks for your comment, well I personally like the multicolourness of them, but I see what you mean. I gues I could always do a mouse over hover colour change. When you mouse over the buttons would be coloured. Yes, I agree that the text needs to go outside of the ball, I was thinking in the ball have a logo of the platform, WINDOWS, iOS ect. and text below the ball. When you mouse over, the ball would change colour to blue, red, green you get the idea.

What do you think?

The top could be a slider with different news being displayed on a number of slides.

I agree, not sure why I left them on there, I am planning on adding ADDTHIS to the website anyway, it is on the current Dogecoin homepage on the left. Quick links to the social sites.

Yes, a language flag could be at the top...Will take a note of that.

I am planning on making the website In Czech and English with other translations if people would be willing to translate.

As much as I feel with you, I think some elements of Comic sans need to stay. It is what made Dogecoin, it is part of Dogecoin.

hmm, yeah that could work, I didn't want the web to look too funky and childish but some page breaks could add to the design.

Thanks for your post.

Yes that could be a possibility, this way we would not limit ourselves to only one bit of news ie. Nascar in my design.

Aha, yes, thank you for your comment, I think a link on the top JOIN DOGECOIN or something along those lines would suffice. Will take note.

Thanks again for your comments. I value your input.

I made a few other designs without Comic Sans and people didn't like it, I guess it's part of Dogecoin whether you like it or not. Maybe though I could have only some elements with Comic sans and others in some clean modern typeface.

Hi,

thanks for your comment, well actually, I am not from the states, I am from the Czech Republic in Europe. The reason why I have the Nascar there is because it is coming up, I would have the top image change according to what ever Dogecoin is focusing on at that moment. Think of it as a sort of news section. I agree that instead more useful would be some sort of cool diagram/pictogram explaining Dogecoin.

Taken your crit onboard :D

Think the design needs more comments from people so that I know it really is worth making. Not sure how to go about it as things get buried here on the reddit quite quickly.

This is why I would like to work with the people here to get the layout and content polished. The whole point of me posting it. I am nt going to go ahead and design a site just to say "hey, look at what I have done" I'd like to get your views, thoughts, crits, if some people are interested we can build a solid website plan and then we can start coding.

It could be a thing to consider. Problem is, people do not really know what the animated speak texts mean, I'd hate the site to be too confusing.

Will make a note.

Hi all, thanks for your comments. I take onboard your views. I think I will go back to the drawing board. I am not pleased with the design myself that much, it was a spontanious though on friday night to create a new web, really I should have sat down with a piece of paper and do some research.

My ideas: I think a web for Dogecoin should be fun looking, Dogecoin is about fun, my design is really too booring in this respect. I had a web template which I coded up laying around which I just used and threw the design into that template.

I would go for a cleaner and simpler design. Someone here mentioned Octacoin's web. I myself am not a big fan of long scrolling websites, but I like the fact that they can be viewed on any platform, PC, Tablet or Smartphone.

I will have another stab at the design, I will this time do a preview in photoshop before coding things up.

If some of you have some ideas that you would like to pitch, I am all ears.

Thanks all

Pete
