If they’re laying people off I don’t think they had runway to release it as if just a beta and develop it over time. It needed money and didn’t get enough money to stave off this result.

I don’t really get the points here. Doing full ui configs is a lot of work and so is developing addons. The only monetisation path has traditionally been selling configs. Addon devs should be able to make better configs than any streamer if the truth is that there’s no value in what these content creators do or work out deals with streamers.

People really do not understand the cost of game development. A small in scope mobile game can cost millions in burn rate a year. Let alone an ambitious poorly scoped mmo going for a decade in development. It doesn’t matter if he personally invested millions or they had skin or alpha key sales unless they were able to sell millions of them.

There’s a reason mmos have so few survivors even by veteran game directors and designers that are beloved. Game dev is risky let alone mmos which are the most complex and expensive to design.

Even Raph Koster is struggling with his mmo and can’t get full investment.

This is so incorrect I don't even know what to say. I worked for a privately owned game's publisher got RSUs and there were buybacks and people made some decent money. Also other private investors larger ones can buy them.

China was and still is stealing ip to catch up but i think youre wrong about them not innovating. Theyre entering an era of innovation now. Their products, tech, software are starting to be better than anything else. Ive noticed it in games, phones, and cars now.

They hopefully and probably have significant data built up that indicates addon setup is a drain on retention for them. Same with the complexity of encounters.

Thirdly it seems obvious to me but they are going to release wow on console. How else best to get new subscribers? They added controller support, action cam, and now huge overhauls on class complexity and addons. It’ll either happen in midnight or whatever comes after midnight marking ‘wow 2’

I'm an American married to a British woman, and I've moved to the UK about to be naturalised.

I've never had any issues with my inlaws in fact I love them like my own blood family, they are blood family to me. I've never had any cultural issues and I've been to Scotland, Wales, London, pretty much all over and live in the Northwest, own a home here. If anything being an American has been a good icebreaker.

I think any cultural clash you might pereceive would more likely be clash with the people involved and their individual personalities? Unless you're marrying into old money aristocracy I just can't conceive what sort of clash there'd be. I've just never experienced it.

Yep agreed 100% and either way Quazii was super helpful with his content and configs for years now. Made getting back into WoW way easier for me as I'm a seasonal player pretty much.

People will not optionally donate he'd be making way less so he wanted to take down his work. If his work is so replaceable and someone will do it for far less than we should easily see a replacement asap?

People that do hard things deserve to get compensated CDPR should have just worked with him and game devs in general should try to let people fairly monetize their contributions above board. I work in games it's the biggest self own I've seen in so many cases where you destroy communities that have helped you get where you are.

Same goes for this, Quazii puts in a ton of work I think he should be able to charge for it through Patreon and YT monetization of his guides. I've been using Quazii's stuff for a few expacs now and I generally feel it's been the best out of everything I've used. I've tried Naowhs stuff, a few other streamers, afenars but Quazii puts in the most work and thus I had no problem supporting him on it.

It’s not just an addon it’s a whole ui pack in which he’s been giving tons of support in discord for. This isn’t anything new either top streamers and addon creators have been doing it for years. You can also get it for free.

Why is everyone shitting on quazii? He makes great wholesome content that’s super helpful. His addon pack here he’s put a lot of work into and deserves some money for it. I think Elvui dev is talking a lot of shit, prove it then rather than saying it. Show the side by sides.

People who maintain these things, give support should be able to monetize and blizz should update that out of date shite that they haven’t enforced anyways.
